Rep. Tom Emmer garnered the support of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for his campaign for governor on Wednesday, just hours before state GOP activists gather to begin its endorsing convention. Palin called Emmer a “patriotic fiscally conservative ‘hockey dad’” in a posting on Facebook. Emmer will square off with House Minority Leader Marty Seifert this weekend.

“Coming from a working class background, Tom is known as a straight-talker who is unafraid of taking on the challenge of reining in the size and scope of government,” said Palin. “A proud father of seven, Tom is in this race for the right reasons – to provide bold, principled leadership that will leave Minnesota fiscally stronger for the next generation.”

Palin noted that Emmer played hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks.

My concern with Tom Emmers is who he associates himself with.
He has been endorsed by Vin Weber and look at this guys
back ground. He is a member of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and was one of the signers of the PNAC Letter sent to US President Bill Clinton dated January 26, 1998, advocating “the removal of Saddam Hussein’s regime from power” along with Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and 29 other notable Republicans.

Currently, Weber is managing partner of the Washington, D.C. branch of lobbying firm Clark & Weinstock. In 2006, Weber’s firm received $360,297 from home mortgage giant Freddie Mac to lobby on their behalf. He also serves on the Board of The Council on Foreign Relations and co-chaired a major independent task force on U.S. Policy Toward Reform in the Arab World with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In addition, Weber is a member of the U.S. Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board. The reason the Country is in the mess we are in
is research is not being done to find out who these
people hang with and do back ground checks. Look at the
biography of Tom, what does the Knights of Columbus do
and who are they, what is the history of them ?

A proud sponsor of overpopulation and impotent government. This, to me, is not a good combination.

“Straight talk” and “republican” are conflicting terms these days.
