I want to know something else… WHY is it that every other civilized nation on the planet, EXCEPT the USA, REQUIRES Oil drilling operations to have back up plans and top shelf shut off valves in case of emergency? I guess British Petroleum thought $500,000 was TOO MUCH for a workable shut off system. one might argue that it’s the tea bagger types themselves – right wing anti-tax rich people – who first pushed Prop 13 to tie the hands of the State of California by making property tax increases so difficult.

with initiative and referendum -a process absolutely dominated by rich conservatives and interests outside California, it has become almost impossible to solve problems through the legislative process.
