In the first gubernatorial polling since the DFL and GOP conventions in April, the Republican-endorsed candidate, Rep. Tom Emmer, leads the three DFLers running in the August primary. Emmer beat out all three candidates by 8 to 10 percent in the SurveyUSA poll commission by KSTP.

Emmer topped Margaret Anderson Kelliher 41 to 33 percent with Independence Party (IP) candidate Tom Horner getting 9 percent and 17 percent undecided.

Against Mark Dayton, Emmer got 41 percent to Dayton’s 34 percent. Horner received 9 percent with 15 percent undecided.

Matt Entenza had the lowest level of support when matched with Emmer. Emmer got 41 percent to Entenza’s 31 percent. Horner had 10 percent and 16 percent were undecided.

The margin of error was 4.1 percent.

The poll also asked party affiliations: 36 percent of respondents were Republicans, 35 percent were Democrats and 24 percent were independents.

Why would you even print this garbage?

KSTP is a right wing corporate media entity that has an agenda to tip the public’s opinion to the right. That way the crooked Hubbard family can continue to steal from the uneducated tea baggers who watch that channel.

“T-Paw Is A Jerk” is an excellent representative of the left. “Teabaggers” are in awe of his erudite elicitations and succinct synopsis.

Pity then, that any candidate the left chooses is headed for such a nasty ass whipping defeat by Tom Emmer….just doesn’t seem fair.

The fact that the poll had a plurality of Republican respondents demontrates its flaw. I don’t recall a poll that ever ID’d more Republicans in MN than Dems…

I’m not going to pretend that the poll is anything other than bad news for the DFL, but I am going to say the same thing I would say if the poll put any DFL candidates ahead: it’s only May. Most people are barely starting to pay attention. It’s not exactly news that this is expected to be a Republican year, so the DFL is going to have to work for it. When don’t we have to work for it?

It’s still very early in the race and
Emmmer is an unknown commodity to most voters and has very low name recognition. Once the campaign starts heating up and average voters learn of Emmer’s extremism he should go downhill pretty fast. He really has no ideas about how to fix the state problems other than to slash state spending to a point where basic services will be endangered and property taxes will skyrocket even faster than under Pawlenty.

Early polls like this are nearly meaningless. An example is Sarah Palin who received fairly high favorable numbers after she gave her speech at the RNC. Within 30 days these numbers dropped sharply after her interview with Couric and a series of verbal gaffes. Most likely a similar scenario will play out for Emmer who also is a gaffe machine. I predict Mark Dayton will win the govenor’s race.

We need to make every effort to ensure Tom Emmer is elected as the next Governor of Minnesota. The people of Minnesota need to be heard, the Constitution of the United States needs to be respected, and Tom Emmer is the only candidate for MN Governor who will truly honor this.

A KSTP Poll, how fair that would be.

What a shame that the GLBTQ are playing the gender card. It’s like those who play the race card and neither impress me. There should be equality for all people. If we consider the word “all”, that is an absolute. There will be different opinions. I personally don’t care for punk rock but I’m not angry that Emmer likes it. I don’t give a rip. What I am concerned about is the need for jobs, jobs, jobs, and small businesses are the answer. They are the main employers and they’re being squeezed to death by taxes. Yeah, I’m a TEApublican I guess. I can’t afford any more taxes. I can support less spending irresponsably and thoughtful activist who find ways to help those who REALLY need it. I don’t care if those in need are gay, or black, or white or indigenous or purple with green polka dots punk rock band musicians who have inadequate vocabularies. GadZooks said, ““Teabaggers” are in awe of his erudite elicitations and succinct synopsis. I think not and (s)he probably objects to me because I have a tendency to obfuscation. Equality, not supremacy for groups. Gender, race, sexual preferences, political differences should not color our opinions to the point of such virilent anger. At this point, I support Emmer. We’ll see how the campaign goes. I’m going to write to the rock group that said the horrid thing about gays compared to those of the Islamic faith who kill their daughters who have been raped. One more thing…I’ll still shop at Target because the prices there are more in line with my wallet which isn’t very full.

OH Minnesota, place of my birth, the place that nurtured my family and made us proud Americans. Minnesota that created a bronze star Army Captain buried at Arlington, that gave a new home to an RAF decoder and naturalized citizen, my mother, that bred a Marine, lots of cops, a National Guard platoon leader and a working class army of patriots… Minnesota… how could you even consider a bigot like Tom Emmer for governor? Welcome to “GlenBeckistan” where everyone different from you is a threat. Where anyone of a differing race, religion, sexual orientation, political leaning or state of mind is dangerous to you. Welcome, my precious Minnesota, to GlenBeckistan.
