Pawlenty on the staging pretensions of Barack Obama (and George W. Bush)

Via KSTP, Tim Pawlenty is out there flogging the McCain talking point du jour–Barack Obama’s supposedly lavish staging for tonight’s stadium speech–as if it were just another day: “This Roman-like facade, a facade with Roman columns, is a perfect metaphor or icon for the point that it’s an interesting production, but behind it there’s not much there,” Minnesota Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty told ABC.

But hey–check out the Greco-Roman package on this guy, pictured at the 2004 Republican convention in New York. (Click on the image to read Ben Smith’s Politico post on the subject.)

What an asshat. Pawlenty had a backdrop at his 2007 inaguration, (held in the Fitzgerald Theatre,) that looked like a Waiting for Guffman production of Julius Caesar.
