Elvis running for lieutenant governor
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 2:26 pm
A political landscape that’s been variously populated by a former boa-wearing wrestler, an SNL comic, and Lizard People now has a new feature, according to the Pioneer Press: Elvis. Perennial candidate Ole Savior has tapped Elvis impersonator Todd Anderson of Brooklyn Park as his selection for lieutenant governor.
He just made the rounds in the Capitol Press room in a red, studded jump suit.
Savior, who has been running as a Democrat since 1984, filed to run for governor as a Republican. Why? “The Democrats are dysfunctional,” Ole replied. Is that new?
At least, now Tom Emmer will have someone to debate before the Republican primary.
Anderson confirmed his candidacy on his website today – as does the Secretary of State’s online filing, which has Savior and Anderson filed as Republicans — but PiPresser Jason Hoppin’s photo of the jumpsuit-clad crooner making the rounds at the Capitol today is proof enough.

I think Ole and Elvis are making a wonderful creative statement that politics is a joke (even if they don’t mean to).

Thanks PQ!
I know that entertainers have done well in Minnesota and some of us jokers are even taken more seriously than the career politicians. Although winning this election is what I consider a long-shot, I will try to make it more interesting and fun for everyone, but I am just eye-candy for Ole Savior’s 2010 Minnesota Governor Campaign.
My running mate, Ole Savior, has some very interesting ideas about getting this state back to economic stability without raising taxes on our already burdened citizens. He left the DFL after being a member for over 25 years because their only solution to everything is to raise taxes.
Keep watching Ole’s website for full information on what he plans to do to keep leading our Great State of Minnesota back to economic prosperity.
