Democrat Margaret Anderson Kelliher has picked John Gunyou as her gubernatorial running mate, MPR’s Polinaut and MNPublius are reporting. Gunyou is the city manager for Minnetonka and served as finance commissioner for Gov. Arne Carlson in the 1990s. Kelliher is making an announcement of her pick at a news conference at the Capitol Friday afternoon.

Gunyou has been critical of the administration of Gov. Tim Pawlenty. He criticized Pawlenty’s handling of the I-35 bridge collapse in 2007 and has long called Pawlenty’s budgeting “deceptive and shortsighted.”

Great choice

Worked for a Republican (Arne Carlson)at the state level, and a DFLer (Don Fraser) at the local level.

What’s so great about MAK moving to the middle? It only makes Entenza look that much more appealing. Sorry Dems, but I think you’re gonna choke. How I wish there were a Green candidate…..
