Although Wisconsin state Sen. Julie Lassa still doesn’t have the official nod as the Democratic Party’s candidate to run for retiring Rep. Dave Obey’s northwest Wisconsin seat, she did pick up a key, if unsurprising endorsement, yesterday: the women’s political group EMILY’s List endorsed Lassa’s candidacy.

“Julie will be a strong and independent voice to stand up for the hard working men and women of central and northern Wisconsin,” said EMILY’s List president Stephanie Schriock. “Her record of fighting for jobs, small businesses, and economic development set her apart from her opponents and make her the strongest candidate to replace Congressman Dave Obey. Drawing on her deep roots in the district Julie is building a campaign organization second to none putting her on track for a great victory in November.”

Lassa will face off with presumptive GOP candidate Sean Duffy in a race that CQ Politics rates “Leans Democratic.”
