Minnesotans react to Israeli-Gaza flotilla incident

A flotilla carrying supplies for the Gaza Strip was detained by Israeli troops on Monday, and 10 activists aboard were killed in an incident that has generated strong feelings on both sides of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. Rep. Michele Bachmann penned a column on Tuesday urging strong support for Israel’s actions. At the same time, a coalition of groups in Minnesota are planning a protest at Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s office to condemn Israel’s actions.

“While the world decries the actions of Israel, I think it’s imperative that the United States stand strong with their ally,” Bachmann wrote in the Hill. “I support Israel’s position to stop and inspect peace missions headed to Gaza for national security purposes and the U.S. should reiterate our support for Israel and stand by them throughout the peace process in the Middle East.”

Meanwhile, a coalition of peace and pro-Palestine groups are planning a protest on Tuesday evening at Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s office to urge the United States to stop sending military aid to Israel.

The Coalition for Palestinian Rights (CPR), Women Against Military Madness (WAMM), AntiWar Committee (AWC), International Jewish anti-Zionist Network – TC (IJAN-TC), MN Break the Bonds (MN BBC), Teachers Against Occupation (TAO) released a statement that read in part:

Israel’s criminal actions cannot be permitted to continue. The United States directly supports Israeli atrocities with billions of dollars of military and economic aid every year. All of our Senators and Congressional representatives have supported this aid. This must stop. We call for an immediate end to U.S. ties to Israel. Specifically as people in Minnesota, we call for an end to Minnesota economic ties and financial support of Israel’s atrocities.

Israel is operating under a functional theocracy much like W.Bush did.. You can compare Israel and Free Markets to >>> OH Let’s Say >>>>>Fascism!! Gaza isn’t a country.. Gaza is a frickin’ Palestinian Indian Reservation.. TODAY>>> if the U.S. had Native Americans on reservations and we were torturing and killing them the ENTIRE world would be UP IN ARMS!! If ethnic cleansing is a crime then maybe we(The U.S.) should remove Benjamin Netanyahu from power like we did with Saddam..

Read last week’s controversial article in the New York Review of Books at http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2010/jun/10/failure-american-jewish-establishment/

The article has caused a big storm in Jewish establishment organizations.

Israel has been taken over by a bunch of paranoid right-winters.

To those who disparage Israel, here is a little experiment for you to try. Load up a ship full of supplies for the PKK, the Kurdistan Party that is trying to get Turkey to give the Kurds their own homeland. Try to land your ship near a Kurdish area of Turkey. When the Turkish Navy boards you, fire on them, hit them with metal bars, and try to hang them. See what happens to you.

The Israeli blockade is an attempt to stop terrorists from attacking Israel without actually shooting, bombing, and killing them. Israel is just trying to stop the flow of weapons and fortification supplies into Gaza. One alternative would be a much stronger counterattack whenever the people in Gaza fire missles at Israel. In fact, that might be better. My criticism of the blockade is that actually it does not seem to be working all that well. Some fresh thinking on this issue is needed but I really don’t know the right answer.

Also, those who say that Israel’s defense works against American interests are looking at the situation backwards. Israel is the most forward Western outpost taking the brunt of the Muslim attacks. Israel did not cause Islam to want to conquer the world and impose Sharia law on everyone. That is part of the totalitarian political system that, unfortunately, is imbedded within most versions of Islam (hopefully perhaps not all). Blaming Israel is like blaming your smoke alarm/spinkler system for waking you up at night and disturbing your sleep when there is a fire. You can disable it if you want, but don’t complain when you are burned.

Who would not expect Sudan, Iran and Turkey to bash Israel? Sudan with its history of genocide, Iran- a holaucust denyer and Turkey-wanting to be radical islamic country should only be expected to stand against Israel.

it would not surprise me that they are plotting gas chambers for jews. The Helen Thomases of the world, they hate Israel so much that they use the Palestinian people as an excuse to showcase their hatred.

American taxpayers should stand up and demand that the U.S. government stop using their money to fund Sudan and the United Nations programs that promote hatred against Israel.

Show your support for Israel.

Re; Mrs Gachelin

I presume you’d like the saved cash forwarded to your beloved Israel right?

Maybe the US governemnt should cut off all free aid to Israel and use the saved billions to improve the lives of ordinary Americans as opposed to propping up the Vile Zionist state?
