Klobuchar, Lubinski to headline Justice Department Pride event

Sen. Amy Klobuchar and U.S. Marshal Sharon Lubinski will headline a LGBT Pride event for Department of Justice employees on June 21. Lubinksi was sworn in as the U.S. Marshal for Minnesota and is widely believed to be the first lesbian in history to hold that post. Under John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzales, the DoJ was prohibited from allowing LGBT groups to hold events in the department, even going so far as barring them from using the department’s email. That policy was reversed in the final year of President Bush’s second term.

The event, called “Serving Openly, With Pride,” will also feature Attorney General Eric Holder, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Tom Perez and Jenny Durkan, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington.

Founded in 1994, DOJ Pride “serves as the recognized organization for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) employees working in the Department of Justice’s offices, boards and divisions.”

I didn’t vote for Klobucher to be a moderate!

Gee, I wonder if they have a special organization within DOJ that recognizes the contributions of people who have sex the normal way?

Klobuchar heading a Pride event? What a joke. She’s done nothing to support LGBT people. Silent on the Uniting American Families Act, silent on repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell…. And going to a Pride event is supposed to matter?

There is no “normal” way to have sex, Dennis. Anal sex is perfectly normal for two gay men. Shoot, it’s even normal for heterosexual couples who prefer to avoid vaginal intercourse.

And furthermore, every day is “Recognize Heterosexuals Day.” I can’t go a day without seeing a commercial celebrating relationships between men and women. I’ve YET to see a commercial celebrating same-sex relationships.
