Rep. Michele Bachmann is heading to Iowa this weekend to fundraise for Republican Attorney General candidate Brenna Findley. Findley has spent the last 7 years working as chief of staff for Bachmann chum Rep. Steve King.

“I’m glad to welcome Congresswoman Bachmann back to Iowa,” said Findley. “Her help is a boost to our campaign for Attorney General. I’m encouraged to have her support, and together we will bring real, conservative change in November.”

Findley, a conservative Republican, says she’s running to put Iowa in a position to join a lawsuit against health care reform.

in April, she said she would sue the federal government if she defeated 7-term Democrat Tom Miller.

“The federal government is claiming that it has the authority to force Iowans to buy health insurance under its power to regulate interstate commerce,” Findley said. “However if a person decides not to buy health insurance they are, by definition not engaging in commerce and therefore are not subject to the federal mandate. As Iowa’s Attorney General I would take a stand for Iowans against this abuse of power by joining other attorneys general from other states to challenge this unconstitutional law in court.”

Findley has made an important misstep so far in her campaign for attorney general — she’d let her license to practice as an attorney lapse.

Here’s Findley’s full press statement on Bachmann’s upcoming fundraiser appearance:

Congresswoman and well-known conservative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota will keynote the fundraising reception for Brenna Findley, Attorney General candidate, at the GOP State Convention on Saturday, June 26th at 4:30p.m. at the Iowa Events Center.

Congresswoman Bachmann is a born-again Christian, an outspoken conservative, a strict constitutionalist, a private property rights advocate, a proven budget and tax cutter, the mother of five, and she’s been the foster parent to twenty-three.

She’s a pro-family, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment leader and Congresswoman Bachmann is a social, fiscal and foreign policy conservative. The Waterloo-born Bachmann is one of the most colorful and compelling leaders in politics today.

“I’m glad to welcome Congresswoman Bachmann back to Iowa,” said Findley. “Her help is a boost to our campaign for Attorney General. I’m encouraged to have her support, and together we will bring real, conservative change in November.”

The reception is scheduled to begin following the Convention at 4:30pm on June 26th. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door. They are available from the Findley for Iowa campaign at (515) 720-0738 or events@findleyforiowa.com.
