Media Matters, CNN throw cold water on Palin’s fundraising numbers
Monday, July 12, 2010 at 12:16 pm
Sarah Palin’s latest FEC numbers are in, and — as with all things Palin-related — it’s big news. As Politico opined in a story last night: “In short, for the first time since the 2008 campaign … Palin is supported by a political operation befitting someone considering a presidential run.”
But Media Matters maintains that the story is pure hype, citing a CNN dispatch that puts things in perspective:
Sarah Palin’s political action committee raised more than $865,000 over the last three months, according to a newly filed report with the Federal Election Commission – the former Alaska governor’s biggest quarterly take since SarahPAC was launched in early 2009.
But the PAC’s fundraising so far this year has been roughly on pace with its 2009 efforts. Palin raised more than $1.2 million since the beginning of this year, about $200,000 less than she raised in the second half of 2009.
Indeed, the Politico story itself admits that Palin is by no means unique in her fundraising efforts. Romney’s “Free and Strong America PAC” raised more than a million dollars in just April and May. Piling on, CNN’s Peter Hamby adds in a tweet:
Palin gets another round of breathless 2012 buzz for doing things she is supposed to do: campaign for candidates, raise money, send out mail

It would be better for American if people who are highly knowledgeable and skilled ran for our highest public offices. Sarah Palin is not knowledgeable, and the presidency is no place for more ignorance, if less is available.

But you recently elected a community organizer who had never led anything or who had never collected anything but a government paycheck. And it shows. I guess you’re saying you learned your lesson?

Mill didn’t vote for a community organizer, etc, etc.
When offered a choice between the scold/vapid ticket and a community organizer, the country chose.
Although the actions taken were not as large as ideal, it does show. Rather well.

“never collected anything but a government paycheck”
No, that’s John McCain.

Community organizer? Obama’s IL state seat represented roughly the entire population of AK. His IL Senate seat represented 18X the entire population of AK. His experience was greater than any beauty queen who can’t finish anything she starts…including being a Governor. If republicans want to win in 2012 anyone but SP may have a chance. Always remember and NEVER forget nothing energized the Democrat’s base like SP.
