Paulsen outraises Meffert nine to one

Rep. Erik Paulsen is dominating the fundraising game in his reelection campaign, according to FEC records released Thursday. He has out-raised his Democratic opponent Jim Meffert by a nine-to-one margin.
Paulsen raised a little under $1.9 million so far this cycle, with $380,000 of that in the last quarter. Meffert has $217,465 to date, and $98,000 since the last reporting period. Paulsen’s cash-in-hand edge is even more noticeable: He holds $1.3 million in his campaign war chest, whereas Meffert has only $48,440.
Paulsen’s seat was viewed as a prime pickup target by Democrats in 2008. Longtime Rep. Jim Ramstad had decided to retire, and the suburban Minneapolis district matches the traditional purple territory. Barack Obama ended up winning the district by six points in 2008, but Paulsen easily held the seat for Republicans, winning by 8 percent.
Cook Report currently rates the seat as solid Republican, and CQ lists it as “Safe Republican.”

Maybe you can go to a government-run store. I mean, all other merchants seem to be nazis selling communist stuff, right?
I’m always amused when people who were raised in a free market economy that is responsible for more consumer choices at their lowest possible prices complain about it as if the communists with their five-year plan where the government decides what gets created, explaining why the store shelves were always empty and the prices unaffordable, had a better idea. Even though the soviets have now admitted the capitalists were right all along.
There are now more communists in Minneapolis than there are left in Moscow.

No Dennis .. I would hate if the Government had retail stores.. That’s NOT what a representative government is meant to do.. That’s what business and commerce is for.. However (back in the day) business had responsibility to the communities that they served..(the same communities that made companies profitable). They also had a responsibly to the employees that they hired.. Good workers get good raises and spend their money in our economy and maybe even buy a house.. Today’s business model is that of the Enron principle.. Screw everyone (except the CEO’s)..
You Republican Troll Baggers hate the thought of a “One World Government” yet you support NAFTA GATT and this mythical creature called the “Free Market”?? Hypocrites! Every single one of you!! If you hate One World Corporatocracy let’s work at destroying NAFTA .. We should separate “Corporation and State” for a true Government of the People..
Oh My god!! There are Commies in Minneapolis??? I’ll have to write my Mayor Chris Coleman .. Maybe we should drain the Mississippi River and build a wall..

Paulsen has done nothing, despite big promises in his 2008 election campaign. He also campaigned as a moderate in the mold of Ramstad. Instead, he was a reliable Party-line voter and sent out mailings fearmongering about ‘socialism’.
Remember, this is an R+0 district (PVI).
If Ramstad, the moderate, had decided to run again, he would have won. Instead, Paulsen associates himself with the national GOP, which has an extreme agenda not suited for districts like this.

@Todd Dugdale
Paulsen is a much quieter version of Michele .. He is actually in reality doing alot for your district.. Unfortunately not for the people.. If he can maximize profits for Target they might be able to hire more minimum wage employees.. Then Paulsen can boast about how many “jobs of the future” he has created while at the same time making Target grossly profitable..

It would be interesting to see how it would affect the fundraising if 2/3ds of the money had to come from actual constituents. I mean real, in-district living breathing voters and locally owned businesses.
Anyone who worships free-market capitalism must be enjoying the global recession it created.
Marcus, I think there is a lot of truth in your description of “back in the day”.
