Governor’s race: Democrats lead in all possible match-ups
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 1:06 pm
GOP-endorsed gubernatorial nominee Tom Emmer trails every potential Democratic candidate in a new Rasmussen poll.
Former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton — who polls have shown leading the DFL primary — leads Emmer 40-36 percent. State House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher beats Emmer by almost the same margin, 40-35 percent. Matt Entenza is the only DFL candidate who doesn’t hold a substantial lead over Emmer, though he still beats the GOP nominee by one point. Independence Party candidate Tom Horner receives between 10 to 12 percent in the poll, depending on which Democrat is included.
Most recent polls have shown Emmer running behind the Democrats in the race, but the new Rasmussen numbers should be especially troubling for the candidate since Rasmussen is now to have a house effect slightly favoring Republicans. The new survey shows a large shift in favor of the Democrats from the last time Rasmussen polled the race back in May.

Wow. It’s amazing that given all the negative crap that Emmer’s been getting in the press that his unfavorables are only 40%. Which sounds like a lot until you consider that Kelliher’s are 44%, Dayton’s are 45%, and Entenza’ are 41%. hmmm.
Oh, and here’s some shocking poll results in that same poll of 500 Minnesota LIKELY VOTERS:
54% favor repealing ObamaCare (40% don’t want it repealed)
62% favor want an Arizona-like immigration law in MN (27% oppose)
And even though 63% have voted for an independent candidate in the past (not affiliated with either major party), 47% are less likely to do so this fall (27% more likely).
Very interesting.

When even Rasmussen puts the Democrats ahead, you know the republicans are behind.
Too bad the republicans decided to say no to democracy and run an authoritarian primary. That opens the door for the Independence Party.

I think Tom Horner should attack Emmer on his intention to pass the Arizona law in Minnesota. He could replace Emmer as the challenger to Dayton and then be wiser in stewardship of Minnesota’s resources than Dayton.
We will see. Yes, I agree with Zera Lee that Emmer is dragging the party to the right, by which I mean…get the Mexican illegals. That is such a dumb move. I was a reporter and talked to a woman in the Willmar chamber of commerce who told me the town would have to shut down its industry if the Texas migrants didn’t come and work there (my understanding was they were all legal). If labor like this is there, it will kill Minnesota agriculture if we adopt anything like that crazy Arizona statute.

Right, I’m running on repealing ObamaCare, Teresa Collett won’t repeal it (she wants to elect a conservative president first), and of course Betty McCollum is thrilled she’s unleashed the insurance companies to raise their premiums as high as the sky now that all Americans are being driven into their waiting arms.
I’ll tell you straight up, the American people have been lied to about the Arizona law, and as they learn what it really is, they’ll see how dumb and ineffective it is, and how it will drive Arizona’s or Minnesota’s economy into a ditch.
And remember, Obama isn’t going to give us billions of dollars to build a fence on our border like Arizona is doing (I saw today that 25% of U.S. Border Patrol agents on the border are in Arizona! Incredible. It’s an Arizona jobs program! Can’t they export anything but border patrol and illegal immigrants?)

Hey Steve Carlson, don’t you know that the Arizona S-1070 was created by ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) a lobbying orgnization that strong-arms legislation, and it is funded by corporations that employs ex-politicans who doing the dirty work for the private prison industry.
http://www.alecwatch.org/report.html
Arizona Journalists have uncovered proof of the conspiracy that Arizona is turning into a prison state. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has been making private prison deals with Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) that will generate thousands of new jobs. The Arizona connections: Advisers to Governor Brewer run a lobbying firm, ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), which represent CCA; the deputy chief of staff was a lobbyist for ALEC; and his wife is still lobbying for ALEC.
