Minneapolis to host Netroots Nation 2011

Netroots Nation, the progressive blog conference that this weekend welcomed Sen. Al Franken and state Sen. Tarryl Clark to its podium, is coming to that duo’s home state. At the end of his keynote speech Saturday, Franken announed that the 2011 edition will be held in Minneapolis next June 16-19.
“It’s a little bit less glitzy and glamorous than Las Vegas, but it’s also a little bit less hot,” Franken said. “Great fishing, beautiful scenery, and tons of energetic progressives ready to show Netroots Nation a good time. And the best part is, if it gets a little too crowded at Markos’s party, you can always come out, come over and hang out at my house. Well, actually, you can’t.”
Mayor RT Rybak welcomed the conference in a YouTube video released Saturday:

The perfect venue for this show. There’s more commies in Minneapolis than there are in Moscow. Seriously.

Mostly because “Commies” haven’t mattered in either Russia or Minnesota in 20 years. Of course if your head is so far up your own ass you can see your tonsils you wouldn’t know that. The only place “Commies” matter now were George Bush’s lenders of choice to pay for his tax cuts to the rich… China.
Sounds like a good convention to bring money and PR to town…

Does anybody have a link to Tarryl Clark’s speech? Surely MN-based UpTakeVideo recorded such an important event.

It is a good fit and a good opportunity. Netroots 2011, DNC 2012.
After thee RNC brought their “green zone” style convention here, the republicans spent so little money that they had to refund booth fees.
Denver had a grand old time hosting the DNC. We should be so lucky.
