Kelliher releases finance numbers, has raised just under $1 million this year

DFL gubernatorial nominee and Minnesota House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher released Sunday her latest fundraising numbers, which show Kelliher has raised $1.23 million since her campaign began.
With only a little over two weeks left before the August 10 primary, Kelliher reported $385,000 cash on hand after having raised just under $1 million since the first of the year.
Other candidates’ numbers are due today, but for Kelliher’s DFL opponents, the amounts they post will only reveal a fraction of what they are able to spend on the race. Both Mark Dayton and Matt Entenza are millionaires who are self-funding their campaigns. Each candidate will likely be able to spend far more during the closing days of the campaign than their cash-on-hand numbers suggest.
In a press release announcing her numbers yesterday, Kelliher called for enhanced disclosure laws:
In addition to releasing a summary of her campaign finance report, Kelliher disclosed a detailed list of her personal financial assets not required under current law. It’s part of a new policy proposed by Kelliher to directly address gaping loopholes in existing candidate financial disclosure laws, and enhance transparency in how campaigns in Minnesota are funded.
The issue of personal finance disclosures was raised earlier in the campaign, when Kelliher and Dayton both released their 2009 tax returns, with every other candidate declining to provide their forms.
