Emmer raised $785,000 this year, likely trailing Dems in campaign funding

The Minnesota campaign finance day party continues, with gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer releasing his year-to-date numbers. The presumed Republican nominee (he faces a minimal primary challenge) raised $785,000 over the course of the year so far. That puts his total amount raised during the campaign at $900,000, but after his expenditures, he has $296,000 cash left on hand.
Those are surprisingly low figures considering that Emmer does not face a heavily-contested primary race. DFL candidate Margaret Anderson Kelliher out-raised Emmer in each category, raising $300,000 more over the course of the campaign, and she holds an extra $90,000 cash on hand. Though Kelliher is the only other candidate who has disclosed a fundraising report before today’s deadline, that puts Emmer at a disadvantage against any of the DFL nominees, since Matt Entenza and Mark Dayton (who has led most polls for the primary race) will both be able to self-finance a general election campaign.
Recent polls have shown the Democrats slowly pulling ahead of Emmer. With these new campaign figures, the landscape is looking increasingly more like a likely win for the DFL, giving the party the governorship that it’s not held since Arne Carlson was elected in 1990.

So, Tom, tips not what they used to be? Maybe you should cut your campaign budget by 30% and show us how well it works.
Let’s make some lemonade here!

I predict that Emmer will be outspent by the democrat candidate but will win anyway.

So basically as an incompetent politician, similar to a bad waiter, Emmer is failing to get tips like the other politicians?
Dennis you just keep on predicting away… it certainly is funny. See at the point that you can’t raise big money, you are done, finished, game over, toast. And from the looks of it the GOP money guys are not ready to throw good money after a bad candidate.

Randy: Pennies for Politicians?
Amuseinc: Do not get cocky. By GOP decree, Emmer is the only republican running. This means that no matter how bad he is for the state, no matter how many “minimum wage” moments he has, he will still get the bulk of the anti-Democrat vote.

Amuseinc, the democrats have reached their peak. People already know who they all are and their negatives are all in the 40s.
Emmer hasn’t even started campaigning yet (to speak of) since he doesn’t have to deal with a primary. He’s just waiting for the democrat candidate to be identified and then he can sharpen his attack.
In the end, it’ll come down to turnout and we all know what that looks like this year. heh
