Hours after being raided and shut down by Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher, the RNC Welcoming Committee “convergence space” reopened. Peace activists from around the country gathered to condemn the police raids and a lawyer from the National Lawyers Guild gave his take on the raids: police are intentionally sweeping up activists to prevent them from participating in protests at the Republican National Convention.

2004 NYC republican convention: hundred thousand in the streets, mass arrests, beatings, lawsuits, massive costs to the city, loss of faith in the local police by the community. Result: George Bush elected.
So why is the left doing the same? I will not go to a protest with a “Please Taze me Bro” tee shirt
and a target on my head for the goons batons. Do something else for a change, there must be
other tactics that will change stuff, this is a dead end.

If mass social-justice protests were a dead tactic the police would not fear them as they so obviously do.
Mass protests do impact the psyche of the body politic. That is why the Reich-wing of America work so hard to belittle and marginalize them.
I hope people going to the protests will consider wearing tee-shirts emblazoned with the First Amendment on front and back. WHEN the police stomp down on the people they will have to publicly stomp down on the Constitution of the United States of America.
Protesters might also hand police copies of the constitution. Nothing will get a cop to piss on you faster than to show them the United States Constitution. They go into -seeing red blood lust mode- intuitively.
