MSNBC’s Maddow looks into Emmer’s affiliation with anti-gay ministry
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 8:38 am
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow looked at Minnesota’s gubernatorial primary matchups last night, giving special emphasis to GOP-endorsed candidate Tom Emmer and his support for the Christian ministry You Can Run But You Cannot Hide. The story should be familiar to Minnesota Independent readers: Emmer has supported, through a donation from his campaign, the group, which has drawn fire for words by its leader, Bradlee Dean.
“Muslims are calling for the executions of homosexuals in America,” Dean said on YCR’s May 15 radio show on AM 1280 the Patriot. “This just shows you they themselves are upholding the laws that are even in the Bible of the Judeo-Christian God, but they seem to be more moral than even the American Christians do, because these people are livid about enforcing their laws. They know homosexuality is an abomination.”
“If America won’t enforce the laws, God will raise up a foreign enemy to do just that,” Dean continued. “That is what you are seeing in America.”
After these words got wider exposure, Emmer praised the group: “These are nice people.”
The affiliation has driven some of the anger by LGBT advocates over Target Stores’ $150,000 donation to MN Forward, a PAC that has supported Emmer through advertising.
Maddow didn’t mention the Minnesota Independent’s reporting on the program, but last night she tweeted a link to our story, praising our coverage.

That is so Christian of these guys – advocating murder of homosexuals.
People are morons to think this is ok. They are also morons to think gay people have a choice. I can tell you for a fact we do not.
I mean, who in their right mind would wake up one day and say, “Hmmm, I think I would like to be attracted to my own sex so that I can be spat on, hated, abused, beaten, tortured and murdered by the Christians and other haters in society? Yeah, I really like being an outcast and a social pariah, so I think that is what I will do.”
Wrong. Dumb. No one chooses this, I can promise you that.
So you are persecuting people who are different by no choice of their own.
Very, very Christian of you. Thanks a lot.

As our culture evolves the meanings of words tend to change. One example is the word “gay”. It used to mean colorful and happy now it is used as a persons sexual orientation. The word “christian” used to define a persons religious beliefs, now its meaning has changed to HATRED and VIOLENCE. Soon the kids will be using it to describe getting jumped by another group of kids….”hey did you see what happended to Joey?? He got christianized by four people walking home last night!!”
