Anti-gay groups NOM, MN Family Council target Horner, Dayton in new ads

The Minnesota Family Council and the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) are teaming up against DFLer Mark Dayton and Independence Party candidate Tom Horner with new radio ads. The ads are the second statewide campaign by NOM; the group released television ads against DFLers and IP candidates in the spring. The group also produced mailers against Sen. Paul Koering, the state’s only openly gay elected Republican. He lost his primary election this week.
“Voters in 31 other states have had the opportunity to decide the definition of marriage, and it’s time that Minnesotans had that same right,” said Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) in a statement on Thursday. “The candidates for governor are asking voters for their support. We’re encouraging voters, in turn, demand of the candidates to guarantee they’ll support their right to vote on marriage and not impose gay marriage on them.”
Tom Prichard of the Minnesota Family Council added, “Both DFL nominee Mark Dayton and Independent [Independence Party candidate] Tom Horner want to impose homosexual marriage on all Minnesotans, but GOP nominee Tom Emmer supports traditional marriage. The key issue, however, is who will get to decide this issue – the politicians in St. Paul or the people themselves. That’s what voters need to ask of the candidates.”
The Minnesota Independent has asked for the audio for the ads and will post them once received.

I detect an air of desperation at the National Organization for Marriage and the Minnesota Family Council. They know that there is simply no constitutional justification for denying law-abiding, taxpaying Gay couples the exact same legal benefits, protections, and responsibilities that Straight couples have always taken for granted. They know that American opinion is closing in on a tipping-point in favor of marriage equality for Gay couples; in fact some polls indicated that tipping-point has already been reached.
So all they can do is make one last-ditch effort to stir up enough hysteria toward Gay people and the government in general. It’s really pathetic.
Let me reassure them: Nothing is happening to “traditional marriage.” Most people are Straight, and they will continue to date, get engaged, marry and build lives and families together as they always have. None of that will change by allowing Gay couples to do the same. This is really not any sort of a “sea change” for marriage, since the only difference between Gay and Straight couples is the gender of the two persons in the relationship.

Lets be honest people! The gay marriage issue is all about benefits. Once they’re recognized as “married”, insurance companies have to recognize their “spouse” as a beneficiary.
The foot is being slipped into the door.

Jeez guys, don’t you have something more productive to do in 21st century America.
Onward to full civil and marriage equality rights in America.
Joe Mustich, Justice of the Peace,
Washington, Connecticut, USA.
And to CT for being a marriage equality state since 2008, and where as a justice of the peace, I perform non-religious civil ceremonies for couples all the time, many of whom have been together for 20, 30 and 45 years…
Guys, find another project…..and stop being anti-marriage.

GOP nominee Tom Emmer wants to impose heterosexual marriage on all Minnesotans, but Both DFL nominee Mark Dayton and Independent [Independence Party candidate] Tom Horner support marriage that respects the sexual orientation and religious rights of the Citizen.
The key issue, however, is what will get to decide this issue – the Constitution or the mob. That’s what voters need to ask of the candidates.
There, Tom Prichard of the Minnesota Family Council, I fixed it for you.

Oh boy, bigots don’t approve of Dayton and Horner but like Emmer. What a shocker.

It seems really sad that people dedicate a large portion of their lives to something that doesn’t affect them in any way. The leaders of NOM and their ilk must have very unfulfilled lives. Pity

Tom Prithcard is a parasite, who has been using gay citizens as his meal ticket for decades. Here’s his business model: Stir up fear and hatred against gays and lesbians, send out some direct mail, collect a boatload of money, pay yourself handsomely, and do nothing at all that’s helpful to families. Repeat ad nauseum.
It’s time somebody looked into Pritchard’s closet. I have a feeling something in there’s not very pretty.
