Pawlenty at bottom of CNN presidential poll

Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s ambitious travel schedule hasn’t quite panned out yet for the possible presidential contender. In a CNN poll (pdf), Pawlenty placed near the bottom of a large pool of potential Republican nominees; he was tied for sixth out of eight names floated by the cable news network.
Mitt Romney got the top spot with 21 percent of Republicans supporting him. Sarah Palin came in second with 18 percent and Newt Gingrich was third with 15 percent.
Rounding out the rest of the contenders: Mike Huckabee at 14 percent, Ron Paul with 10 percent, Haley Barbour, Mike Pence and Pawlenty tied at 3 percent and Rick Santorum with 2 percent.

The problem is that everything Pawlenty can do, Romney can do better. The only negative for Republicans is that Romney’s a Mormon (and therefore not a “good” Christian), so this is where Pawlenty really needs to go on the attack.

Unfortunately for him, Pawlenty is unable to wear his hard heart on his sleeve, like someone like Cheney or Bachmann, whom you know simply have none. The Right can smell a ringer a mile away and Pawlenty, despite his posturing, is simply not evil enough to appease their maddened appetites for suffering.

Good call Glynis – I expect Dick Cheney to rise and claim the republican nomination.

Way to go, T-Paw! You’re ahead of Rick Santorum.

@Chayanov
That’s why there are so many “I’m a Mormon” ads currently running on TV in eight major metropolitan areas.

Karen, I bet you’re right. I’ve been wondering why the Mormons have been doing such a huge PR push. It’s groundwork for Romney’s presidential bid.
