Demos: ‘Like me’

Joel Demos, the Republican challenging Rep. Keith Ellison this fall, first gave a nod to the Sisyphean task he faces in ousting the popular Democrat through a quirky web video showing him pulling a monster truck. In his newest video, uploaded to YouTube yesterday, he’s standing on a downtown Minneapolis corner as passersby click a “Like” button on his chest.

There’s little content in the ad. “As you just saw, I’m a pretty easy guy to like,” says Demos before directing people to his Facebook page.

Demos’ original ad was a mini-sensation, getting more than 26,000 views on YouTube. At 304 views so far, it’s hard to tell if this one will have the same “like” factor.

I hate to underestimate the intelligence of the voters, but is his name going to make some people think he’s a Democrat?

A perfect marketing ploy for MPLS.

I did like this guy until I heard him talk about “liberals” in one of his ads and found out he thinks the world will end soon in religious Armageddon. I don’t really want someone like that steering any ship I’m on. Sorry, Joel. You’re too much of a religious extremist for me. I also think a theology degree prepares you to be productive just as well as being fluent in Klingon.
