Freedom First, Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s political action committee, asked members for donations on Wednesday following Pawlenty’s signing of an executive order barring state agencies from applying for health care reform funds from the federal government. The solicitation is sure to draw fire from media outlets and interest groups who accused Pawlenty of issuing the executive order to prop up his presidential ambitions.

Already, Freedom First has boots on the ground in Iowa and political experts there say he has one of the largest campaign operations.

Here’s Freedom First’s fundraising email:

In case you missed it, I wanted to send you an update on Tim Pawlenty’s leadership in challenging Obamacare. Yesterday, Governor Pawlenty issued an executive order limiting the Federal government’s health care programs in Minnesota. As ABC News reported, “Pawlenty Puts Down Marker”:

Pawlenty, R-Minn., today signed an executive order forbidding his state’s agencies for applying for new grant programs made available under President Obama’s health care law…

Pawlenty told reporters in Minnesota that he would do all in his power to limit the reach or the new health care law during his remaining four months in office.

“Anything that I can do to slow down, limit or negate Obamacare, I’m going to try to do it within reason,” he said.
Tonight, the Governor will be appearing on Greta Van Susteren’s Off the Record at 10 pm ET on FOX News to discuss more about this executive order. I hope you can tune in and Forward this message to a friend!

When should we start the impeachment proceedings on Pawlenty? Nothing he’s done as been in the interests of Minnesotans for a long time.

So it wasn’t about political ideology after all — it was just about money (money for Pawlenty, not for Minnesota).

Is there any doubt the fundraising letter was the whole point of the directive?

///Is there any doubt the fundraising letter was the whole point of the directive?///

Nope, not even a tiny bit of doubt. He’s had ambitions well before his ‘close second’ as VP candidate in 2008.
