Pawlenty says government’s distribution of tax dollars is like drug dealing

On Fox News, Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been discussing his executive order directing state agencies to refuse discretionary funds from what he terms “Obamacare,” the federal health reform law passed by both houses of Congress earlier this year. He likened the federal government’s distribution of tax dollars to the states to drug dealing, and later blamed his poor showing in a poll of likely presidential candidates to the fact that he’s a conservative governor in a liberal state. Fifty-three percent of Minnesotans surveyed in an MPR/Humphrey Institute poll said they were unlikely to vote for Pawlenty if he runs in 2010.
Federal government’s acting increasingly like a financial drug dealer, handing out tastes or free samples, trying to get people addicted, further addicted. And we’ve just had it and we’re not taking the bait anymore. We’re not taking the free samples anymore. This is an executive order that says we’re sending them a strong message, but we’re also going to try to make sure the policies are for Minnesota not because some big federal bureaucracy tells us what to do.[...]
He repeated the metaphor on Fox & Friends, later discussing his low polling numbers:
I’m a conservative governor in a state that leans the other way. Keep in mind this is the land of McCarthy, Humprhey, Mondale, Wellstone and now, you know, Sen. Al Franken, so my approval rating ratings as governor have ranged from, you know, 45 to 55, and for a state that leans the other way in these economic times, that’s actually pretty good. If you look at Minnesota, it’s a Democrat state.

I don’t think your metaphors are scary enough, Tim. You need to Bachmann it up a notch. Say it’s more like “unprotected homosexual teenage Al-Qaeda sex”. That ought to put the fear of God in them.

Timmy is slowly morphing into a cross between Cal Thomas and Uncle Scrooge. He needs to get some sun.

So if the federal money is like drug dealing, then Tim Pawlenty is like toilet paper (tp). That’s a more straight forward and simple enough analogy, right? And I’d more that gladly wipe my rear end on Timmy’s face than refuse federal tax dollars for a good cause.

Why doesn’t he try and explain his low polling numbers as a presidential candidate? In his own home state, Obama easily wins. In every Republican poll I’ve seen, I’ve never seen him come in higher than the top of the “other rans”. Palin, Romney, Newt, every other prominent Republican and Tea Party candidate outpolls Pawlenty.

Pawlenty is bending over for the big insurance companies. Namely AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans), the lobbyists for the health industry that are funding anti-healthcare; they are who Pawlenty is really representing not the people of Minnesota.

And if the presidency position is out of Pawlenty’s reach, you’ll probably him representing ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council). A lobbying orgnization operated by ex-politician that strong-arms legislation, and is funded by corporations. They’re behind S-1070 in Arizona.
