Flashback: Franken debates sex with Senate hopeful O’Donnell

Tea party Republican Christine O’Donnell’s upset victory in the Delaware primary for the U.S. Senate last week has put the controversial candidate — and anti-masturbation crusader — in the political limelight. But it’s not her first foray into the national political scene. In 1997, she shared a stage with Sen. Al Franken, who was then just a political commentator, on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. The two sparred over the effectiveness of condoms and whether sex outside of marriage is “physically and psychologically harmful.”
