Your rendition of the story is immaculate to say the least. I was present at the sight of the tear gas that was set off around Mickey's Diner that night. I witnessed a protester in a wheelchair get hit with some of the tear gas. What nulls me to the bone is that we live in a peaceful community here in Minneapolis/St.
Paul and for these thugs to come into our community and intimidate our citizens in downright unconstitutional. It's absolutely pathetic the way the swat team raided our peaceful streets this week. They did it with an insurmountable force of brutality and intimidation and I am one person that will not stand for that type of inhumane act. For all those that spoke their mind this week I congratulate you. Our civil liberties are being wiped away every second in this country. For those who still do not believe in the prospect of a police state, I advise you to do further research on the matter. Martial law is coming to this country and the people are going to have two options: stand up and fight, or get sent to camps ( I'm talking about concentration camps for those still in the midst.) I was witness to it this week and I pray that others stand up and talk about this openly. Thank you very much for writing this great article to reach the masses. I'm praying for this country and the rest of the world!

I witnessed the rounding up of the marchers by the police from my balcony that looks onto St. Peter Street. I watched the crowd that was mostly befuddled and confused by the tactical maneuvers of the police - one woman calling out “I just want to go home!" At one point they were entirely pinned between two phalanxes of police. Suddenly the tear gas was launched and deafening flash bombs went off. I observed no violence from the people who were victim to this police attack. The police reaction was unwarranted from what I observed. Excellent reporting here. This website is doing a great job in capturing how my city has been turned into a brutal police state.

I feel this is the best account of what happened so far. After leaving the scene around 8pm last night I went home and this was the first news headline I could find, via fox news.
"4,000 Protesters Try to Break Down RNC Fence After Rage Against the Machine Concert"

This was in NO WAY accurate.

One of those black bandana-wearing men walking in front of the poor people's march is rather buff. Know what I'm saying?

Great story -- very representative of what I experienced there last night. We have some raw video of the tear gas and concussion grenades online at http://gnooze.com/archives/235 if anyone is interested.
