MnIndy Video: Why gay Republicans endorsed McCain
Wednesday, September 03, 2008 at 11:03 am
The Log Cabin Republicans, a national federation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Republicans, met in St. Paul on Tuesday to endorse the ticket of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin. While acknowledging that McCain isn’t perfect on gay rights issues, the group was adamant in its belief that McCain wishes to, and can, wrest control of the party away from the religious right.
McCain’s national political director, Mike DuHaime, thanked the Log Cabins for the “important endorsement,” and RNC treasurer Tim Morgan greeted them, saying that it was important for a high ranking RNC member such as himself to be there.
