Anti-Muslim group calls for Ellison’s removal from committee

By Andy Birkey

A group called Americans Against Hate (AAH) has started a campaign to get Rep. Keith Ellison removed from the Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism and is ramping up pressure on Rep. Ron Klein, D-Fla., who chairs the committee. Americans Against Hate says it will protest Klein until he removes Ellison from the committee. Despite AAH’s anti-Muslim activities across the nation, the group and its founder Joe Kaufman have been a staple on Fox News and are popular at tea party events in the organization’s home state of Florida.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kaufman said, “Representative Klein has both the authority and the responsibility to remove Keith Ellison from the Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism, a group that Ellison has no business being on. We demand that he does so immediately. Every day that Ellison sits on that task force is an offense to those who fell victim to anti-Semitism and/or radical Islam.”

Kaufman says his group is targeting the nation’s first Muslim Congress member because of Ellison’s radical activities and his “associations” with groups that are “connected” to terrorism. The proof Kaufman presents is Ellison’s trip to Gaza in April.

Kaufman was a featured speaker at a July tea party event in Florida and has been a regular commentator on Fox News. Kaufman has attempted to connect many Muslim community organizations to terrorism, including a Muslim family day at a Six Flags amusement park this summer. Kaufman’s earlier run-in with Ellison involved a 2007 Muslim Day Parade in New York. Kaufman incorrectly claimed Ellison agreed to be grand marshal of the annual event, which he characterized in FrontPage Magazine as “a pre-9/11 celebration of sorts taking place in New York City.”

Ellison spoke at length about his visit to Gaza and Israel in April and about the damage the conflict is doing to both sides in an interview with the website TCJewfolk.

Ok, must we speak again about what religious rights mean? It means people have the right to have their own beliefs and religion. to practice those beliefs, and with that right, they are not to impose those beliefs onto others.

ok, thats done.

I am not a Muslim. I do not make the choice to follow, any cultural ritual, or faith base thoughts of the religion. I do understand that being a Muslim does not make you a terrorist.

The Terrorists that fly planes into our twin towers were of a radical religious base yes. That radical extremist of that particular band of terrorists have or claim to have roots in the Muslim religion (I debate that once you become extreme you start to stretch any religion into a different thing all together but that is a different argument).

here is a study for people to go see. its from a law blog site

http://lawiscool.com/2010/01/21/not-all-muslims-are-terrorists-but-all-terrorists-are-not-muslim-either/

It has a great pie chart that states that islamic extremists count for 6% of terror attacks

I think what we need to look at is the word extremists and understand that there are more christian extremists in our country than any other base.

Americans Against Hate? More like Americans Agitating for Hate

How far does Kaufman want to take it?
Every day a Christian sits on that task force is an offense to those who fell victim to the Oklahoma bombing and abortion clinic bombings and murders of doctors.
Every day a Jew sits on that task force is an offense to those who fell victim to bombing and raids in Palestine and had their homes bulldozed.

Every day Kaufman opens his mouth is an offense to all Americans.

“no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
Article VI, US Constitution.

What Kaufman and the AAH are demanding is unconstitutional.

This is an example of the threat right-wing extremists pose to the Constitution.

I have met Keith recently, and listened to him, and I know that he believes in this state and this country and all it can be.

I get no such impression from Kaufman or any of Keith’s political opponents.

Perhaps Kaufman’s group is the one that ought to be investigated as an extremist hate group. Americans Against Hate (AAH)? What an oxymoron.

Joe Kaufman is the director of an extremist Jewish organization called:

Joe Kaufman is a supporter of a terrorist organizations listed by the US State Department called Jewish Defense League (JDL) and Kach.
Supporters
In an article written in January 2001 on a forum of the Jewish Defense League, activist Joe Kaufman praised the Kahane movement and its founder Meir Kahane. In that article Kaufman said of Kahane: “It was perfectly understandable, if he were to have hated Arabs. Just like, during the Holocaust, it was perfectly understandable for a Jew to hate Germans…If the Kahanes’ memory serves us any purpose, it’s to show that trust (and peace) is ultimately between only ourselves.”

Andy Birkey,

Regarding the article you wrote for the Minnesota Independent, ‘Anti-Muslim group calls for Ellison’s removal from committee’ (http://minnesotaindependent.com/71967/anti-muslim-group-calls-for-ellisons-removal-from-committee)…

First of all, how dare you call our organization an “anti-Muslim group.” What is your proof of that? Our organization only works to expose those individuals and groups who are connected to bigotry and/or terrorism (radical Muslims, white supremacists, etc.) Indeed, in the last speech that I made, I went out of my way to say that I am neither against Muslims nor their religion (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjHdMAyLpAs), which is the truth, regardless of what you write or think. You calling me or my group anti-Muslim is your opinion and the entirely wrong opinion, and it’s funny that that wrong opinion of yours found its way into a news item.

Second, you placed in your defamatory piece a bit of information which is entirely false. You said that I made an “untrue” claim that Keith Ellison was to be the Grand Marshall of the NY Muslim Day Parade. You obviously write articles without doing any research on them, because if you did the research, you would find that, ON OUR AMERICANS AGAINST HATE WEBSITE, we have the flyer for the event – THAT CAME STRAIGHT FROM THE MUSLIM DAY PARADE WEBSITE – containing a big photo of Keith Ellison ADVERTISING HIM AS THE GRAND MARSHALL. See http://www.americansagainsthate.org/MFAwebsiteKeithEllisonFlyerMuslimDayParade.htm and scroll down.

So your information was wrong and your opinion in your “news piece” was wrong (and defamatory) as well.

Now, let’s see if you retract it.

You might want to check Andy’s sources before saying he didn’t check anything. Ellison wasn’t grand marshal, or even at the parade. There’s a link in the article.

What do you have against Ellison anyway? I know him, There’s not a bigoted bone in his body, and he’s never approved of the use of violence by anybody.

But EricF, ol’ Justice Joe has himself a flyer that came right from a website that says Ellison was the parade marshal.

Doesn’t matter if Ellison wasn’t the parade marshal. Doesn’t matter if he didn’t even attend. A flyer proves he was there, even if he wasn’t.

Joe has a flyer from the internet, that proves that Ellison was the parade marshal. Who you gonna believe, a flyer made by some committee on the internet, or witnesses who confirm Ellison didn’t even attend?

Now excuse me, I’ve got to form a group call Jews for Nazis, and post a flyer saying that Justice Joe is our parade marshal. It’s really just that easy to make Joe the parade marshal.

Eric and Tim,

I never said that Representative Ellison performed the duty of Grand Marshall or that he attended the event. In fact, I was there at the event and gave a speech in which I discussed how he was no longer participating as Grand Marshall.

In August 2007, my group issued a press release stating that he was “named” Grand Marshall, which I have proven was entirely true. Here is the release… http://www.americansagainsthate.org/press_releases/PR-EllisonParade.php

Regarding Ellison’s position with regard to the NY Muslim Day Parade, neither I nor my group said anything that was untrue, as this article is accusing me of doing. Therefore, the article is a lie, and the Minnesota Independent editor and writer of the article seem to be allowing this lie to remain.

Andy Birkey made a mistake in an attempt to defame me and my group, which he disgustingly refers to as being “anti-Muslim.” Birkey should own up to his mistake.

Based on Google search results on “Americans Against Hate” as well as visits to some of the hits including the AAH website, it is clear to me that Joe Kaufman and AAH has a decidedly “anti-Muslim” agenda based more on hate and bigotry than on solid evidence. I bleat a decidedly disgusted UFF DA Kaufman’s way. Bah.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Americans_Against_Hate

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/10/08/ellison-target-hate/?show=comments contains an article by George Zornick that is very similar to Andy’s article here but so far no brow-beating comments by Kaufman against Zornick.

http://www.themuslimwatch.com/2008/05/joe-kaufman-creator-and-chairman-for.html is revelatory about the kind of person Kaufman is.

Justice Joe writes “In fact, I was there at the event and gave a speech in which I discussed how he was no longer participating as Grand Marshall.”

Ellison “was no longer participating….”

Ellison never started participating, therefore how can he “no longer” participate?

Hello

I know this post is late but I just talked with someone in the know and he stated that this “hate group” is no more than one dude (Kaufman) sitting around at his computer claiming to have more sway in politics than he really does. He is a crackpot.
