Marcus Bachmann decries Clark’s ‘profanity-laced’ ad
Wednesday, October 06, 2010 at 1:46 pm
Rep. Michele Bachmann’s husband, Marcus, took issue with a recent web ad by his wife’s opponent, DFLer Tarryl Clark, which said, “Michele Bachmann: Not doing @#%! for the people of the 6th District.” Marcus Bachmann, in an email fundraising pitch, called the ad a “profanity-laced attack” on his wife and said it amounted to “transparent attempts to lure my wife into a grade school cussing match.”
“I’m disgusted with the crude attacks the left launches every day against my wife and I’m writing to you with an urgent appeal to stop them,” said Marcus. “I had hoped Michele’s opponent, Tarryl Clark, would be above this type of behavior. But I am sad to report that she has just released a 30-second attack ad that uses a false, profanity-laced attack against my wife. This attack ad literally uses symbols to indicate profanity against Michele — something I have never seen before in a campaign advertisement.”
He continued, “But while you and I can see through Tarryl Clark’s transparent attempts to lure my wife into a grade school cussing match, others in our home district and around the country who don’t know Michele may believe these attacks.”
Here’s the ad with which Bachmann’s husband has taken issue:

Hmmm…I think Mr. Bachmann went off the deep end. This ad appears to be right on target. And profanity-laced? Please. One swear word was implied via a bleep. Definitely works for a web-ad. This ad wasn’t even mean…unlike countless Bachmann speeches over the years.
Just a lame attempt to make something out of nothing and to enrage the far-right base to donate more money to a lame duck congresswoman.

I thought everyone used @#% when they spoke of or even addressed Michele Bachmann – kids, husband, her neighbors, her pastor. I mean, I honestly thought it was just a part of her name. Are you telling me it isn’t??

Nice to see that the left still has the same amount of class as they always had. Proven again by the previous comment lacking taste as well as any intelligent thought, as well as the ad itself, which again offers nothing of value. And they wonder why an intelligent, capable, brave conservative woman keeps winning in this district. It’s a choice between liberal hysteria vs common sense, fiscal sanity, and liberty. Keep up the great fight for all of us in CD6 Congresswoman!

Since it’s my understanding that Marcus likes to @#$% guys in the @&&#*^%, I’m surprised he’s taken offense.

LOL – Minnesota coming down hard on Bachmann? Aren’t you the same morons that voted Franken the clown in?
Comment posted October 6, 2010 @ 3:13 pm
Mr. Dean is so smart. How stupid are all you Minnesotans? How many times has Senator Franken done the important things to help Minnesota like Michelle Bachmann? Has Senator Franken even appeared on Sean Hannity’s show? Has he ever discussed Obama’s secret plan to make us all Muslim with Glen Beck? Michelle Bachmann is brave enough to get elected and then spend all her time doing important things on Fox News.
Comment posted October 6, 2010 @ 3:49 pm
Which is worse: implied profanity, or spending time in Congress going on Fox News to spew transparent lies and hallucinations?
Comment posted October 6, 2010 @ 4:23 pm
Fox News Sucks and Michelle Bachmann is the biggest waste of oxygen in the nation. Sean Hannity is huge blowhard and Glenn Beck is a fat pink faced half witt that spews right winged crap.

Look, there is no way Franken can be compared to Bachmann. The former was a comedian and the latter is a clown. Which is worse: ads and speeches laced with non-profanity or ads and speeches laced with lies, deception, faulty logic, bad facts, and mental problems? A slight examination of comments and positions will identify who is hysterical. (No, I don’t mean funny).

“How many times has Senator Franken done the important things to help Minnesota like Michelle Bachmann?”
This past spring Senator Franken took a tour of several communities all over the state hit hard by the floods. No other representative did so. And he did it without a large media team in tow. It was just him, a young aid, and a car. They covered Grand Forks on the Red River all the way down to tiny little Granite Falls on the Minnesota River. It’s a shame that she believes it’s more important to spend time with Sean Hannity, and not the people who elected her. As crass as this ad may be, she truly has not done @#%! for Minnesota or Minnesotans.
I have never voted for either a Republican or Democrat in any election. When Senator Franken is up for re-election, he will be the first major party candidate to receive a vote from me.

Thanks for keeping it clean, Paul. Have a D@mn nice day. ;-)
I wonder if Terryl authorized the bleep. It was a good ad except for that.
One bleep does not constitute “profanity-laced”.
Define “false” and “crude”, ’cause you ain’t havin’ a good Merriam-Webster day.

This is soooo romantic.
Michele gets attacked by a “bully” using wingdings. Her brave husband comes to defend her, riding a white horse and wearing gleaming armor. Here’s where it gets so exciting.
Her romantic defender, Sir Marcus of Publicly-funded Christian Drug Treatment, stands up and, well, really, sits down and, uh, writes a, ah, fund raising email. Just what the Knights of the Round Table used to do when they felt their damsels were in distress.
Makes me swoon. He’s so big and strong, and we all know that little Michele needs to be defended because she is such a fragile flower. Hip hip, Sir Marcus. Well done.

If the ad didn’t make me contribute again to Michele Bachmann’s campaign, the comments did.
Comment posted October 6, 2010 @ 8:46 pm
Who is this “intelligent, capable, brave conservative woman”? Is there such a person running for Congress in the 6th district?
It’s not a choice between liberal hysteria vs common sense, fiscal sanity, and liberty; it’s a choice between reason, sanity and common sense versus right wing lies and hysteria.

It’s so nice to see all of you Michele haters not coming up with anything of susbstance and fact. Just the same usual name calling and poor attempts of connection. You mention nothing of the ditch the Tarryl has led us to and the abyss she will further lead us because of those she sides with-and has the voting record to prove it. No wonder this type of pathetic ad appeals to you.

Here’s the deal:
For way, way too long now good, decent, intelligent folk have tried to make sense of Michele Bachmann. They’ve tried reason, logic, dialogue and made every attempt to figure out what she’s talking about or attempting to talk about. Nothing works. She makes no sense. She has nothing of substance to say. She has no record of doing anything for anyone other than herself, but she is FANTASTIC at keeping her name and face in the news. That’s it. (I do believe she was involved in some lightbulb bill, but it failed because it was stupid.)
Hence the %&#$ talk in reference to Michele Bachmann. There simply is nothing left to say other than %^$#.

So it’s okay for promoters of Tarryl Clark to render their opinion, but any opinions rendered otherwise gives rise to collective hate of anyone and anything that doesn’t immediately agree. How very adult of of you all. Enjoy your tax hikes, longer waits, refused service, and bankrupt economy. Oh wait… election is Nov 2.
Record shows economy was doing pretty well with increasing revenue to the treasury, high consumer confidence and near record low unemployment,.. until ’07 when control of Congress changed hands as did the purse. Would that it does so again!
Comment posted October 7, 2010 @ 9:43 am
Peaceinc, why do you equate disagreement wiith hatred? Are we required to accept your opinions without criticism? Sorry to hurt your self-esteem, but that is more juvenile than a little bad language.
The seeds of this recession were planted before 2007. Adults should make an effort to understand economics. Tax hikes? Our taxes have gone down since Obama became President. Bankrupt economy? We’re in a recovery, albeit a slow one right now. Longer waits and refused service? I’m not sure what you’re getting at with that one, or why you would blame it on any one political party.

Ignorance and fear is what made you contribute to Michelle Bachmann’s campaign. Pure and simple.

Marcus Bachmann is simply too delicate for words. Clutching his pearls, heading to the fainting couch for a bout of swooning. How pathetic.

You left wing people out there think you can say anything you want, but if someone says something you don’t like, WATCH OUT! Right wingers are all racist, or idiots or what ever other dribble you can think of, because that is all you can think of. You have no solid facts to stand on.
Is there any left wing media out there? I don’t think so, they would alse have nothing to stand on.
Any left wing media show would have about 5 minutes worth of content, and that would be that.
What does Ms Clark stand for? Is she proud of Forced Health Care?, Cap and Tax?
Tell me whats she’s running, PLEASE!

Marcus is valiant to try to defend Michele, but he apparently can’t cite anything Congresswoman Bachmann has done for the constituents in MN6, as all the other posters here were also unable to do. She may be capable, intelligent, brave, and conservative, but those are qualities many other Minnesota women possess. It’s just hard to defend against a charge that is bluntly accurate.
As a Minnesotan that recently visited friends in another state, I was asked why this woman was elected to office. That’s a question that’s hard to answer, since Ms. Bachmann may represent the views and values of some people, but as a legislator she has no record of accomplishments other than talking to the media. So it seems she is being paid by taxpayers to represent the people of MN6 in Congress, but the role she is actually performing is that of a spokesperson for some of the people of MN6. Her voting record indicates that she votes NAY on many bills that provide meaningful legislation for Minnesotans.
Tarryl Clark, as a state legislator, has a legislative record of authoring and co-sponsoring legislation to benefit her constituents. If Minnesotans want someone to serve as a legislator in Congress, Ms. Clark has a proven record as an effective legislator.

Michele has been waging war against the insanity that infests state and federal government. She votes against shameful spending but until other states start sending brave patriots like her she’ll continue to be in the minority.
(Rumor is she’s on the short list for Speaker of the House!)
You can check out her most excellent voting record at:

Jimmy/Rudy/Raymond:
The word you are looking for is “inventing”, not “waging”. Bachman’s MO is the same as our former president’s: attack your opponent’s ‘patriotism’, accuse them of being ‘anti-American’. Bush got to play the “i’m just slow” card when he said stupid things. Michele plays the “their picking on a poor, defenseless woman” card. Its pathetic.
I think many things that my political opponents want are generally unAmerican and illogical. The difference is, I don’t label them “unAmerican”, because it attacks them, not their ideas.
If there is a “war” that she is waging, it is against moderate compromise, and rational political discourse. She has cranked up the irrational, hate-driven politics to “11″.
By the way, she doesn’t vote against “shameful spending”: she votes lockstep with special interest tax cuts for the wealthy, while voting for a second, unfunded war. So vote for the most expensive wars ever, and at the same time vote to unfund the government…..but then complain about the deficit?

Grow up, Marcus! Stop trying to redefine “profanity laced.” I thought the ad hit the right tone. What’s profance is your wife’s ugly legacy of hate and intolerance. The reckless speech. The lies. Her track record of failure and nothing accomplished. She is good at dividing Americans. How pathetic is that for a Representative in Congress.

All this mud slinging is pathetic. Where are the real politicians? I pray the truth prevails.
Comment posted October 12, 2010 @ 4:30 pm
I think it’s a clever and very effective ad. And those are just symbols, no actual profanity is used at all, but you will remember it. Kind of like Fred Flintstone’s rants.
Add to that the fact that its true, and what you get is a winning combination for Bachman’s opponent, Tarryl Clark.
But Bachman is desperate to win, so she can continue to rub elbows with the FOX News TV stars, ultra conservatives every one of them. But of course, FOX News is “fair and balanced” nonetheless, right? Now THAT deserves some real profanity!
