Bachmann’s Michigan visit a prelude to a presidential bid?

Rep. Michele Bachmann was in Michigan on Tuesday to stump for Robert ‘Bobby’ Schostak in his bid to become the chair of the Michigan Republican Party. Bachmann is the chair of the Tea Party Caucus in the House and was recently appointed to the House Intelligence Committee, which will be chaired by Michigan Republican Mike Rogers (R-Brighton).

Michigan Public Radio reports Bachmann had this to say about President Barack Obama at yesterday’s event in Grand Rapids:

“She told the group at the Grand Rapids Hilton there are two reasons Republicans must not allow President Obama to have a second term in office. One, she says, is because the country is less safe since he took office. “I know it may seem like a brazen statement,” Bachmann said before referencing the 2009 shootings at a military base in Fort Hood Texas, a fatal shooting outside a recruiting center in Arkansas, and the underwear bomber’, who attempted to blow up a jet over metro Detroit. The second reason, Bachmann said, is because of the increasing size of government.”

The Grand Rapids Press reports these comments from Bachmann:

Bachmann took aim at familiar targets including:
• The Federal Reserve: “It’s time to pull the curtain back and shine a light on it.”
• Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: “We will pry the gavel out of Nancy Pelosi’s hands Jan. 5.”
• Federal workers: “Federal employees make double their counterparts in the private sector when you count wages and benefits.”

But perhaps the most interesting tidbit to arise from the Tea Party queen’s visit is a piece from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which reports Andy Parrish, Bachmann’s chief of staff, says the trip to Michigan was tied to presidential politics.

“She knows how important the 2012 presidential election is, and what a vital role Michigan will play in it,” Parrish said in an e-mail. “It’s never too early to rally the grassroots, and that is what she is doing today.”

Michele was in Michigan to meet with our president and talk about plans to secede Michigan from the Union and defend the United States from an attack by the United Nations.

Someone needs to find a way of muzzling this sorry excuse for a multi-celled organism. Maybe someone needs to first confirm she IS a multi-celled organism. Seriously, up until now she was an embarrassment to herself, MN and the people who voted her in, but now a member of the Intelligence Committee?

If the GOP or the Tea Party wants any credibility they need to shut her up. Or maybe give her a special project like planning the strategic moves for thwarting the upcoming Martian invasion. Bachmann would do well with that.

“She knows how important the 2012 presidential election is, and what a vital role Michigan will play in it,”

Is it Michigan’s role or Michelle’s role that she’s most interested in? And what role does she see herself in? Surely she knows she is not Presidential timber, but she is aware of how Sister Sarah’s parlayed her role a Vice presidential candiate into the mega millions jackpot, maybe that’s what she’s got her eye on.

But really does anyone doubt that she’s going to take a shot at Klobchar’s seat?

Kevin, while I share your dislike for Michelle, I don’t think its wise to discount Michelle and her tea-bagger pals. They may be nuts but they are working to integrate themselves into the fabric of the Republican Party. They just may succeed in taking it over and that could be dangerous for the country.

Remember no one ever went broke betting on the ignorance of the American People. Given their access to mountains of money and a pliable media there is no telling what Michelle and her ilk could convince the American People of.

Michele Bachmann is one scary, shrewd, and dangerous woman.

I would not underestimate her. She is out for one person only…HERSELF!!

Other than Minnesota and a few “followers”–nobody outside of the area even knows who Bachmann is. I live in Colorado and the last time she was here–almost nobody showed to hear her speak, and she was campaigning for Republicans.

I share your concern and I don’t underestimate what people like Bachmann are capable of however, I still can’t believe she is going to do well with the vast majority of American people. Up until now, her silliness has been largely confined to MN and her silly supporters in MN. If she is given more leadership and exposure within the Republican Party or the Tea Party her silliness is going to go nationwide – just like Big Sister Sarah and will reflect very poorly on whatever party she is aligned with.

Sarah will always do well with her followers, but her leadership abilities or lack of do not play well with the vast majority of the American people. The polls show that. My bet is that Bachmann will do even less well with the vast majority of Americans. She blatantly stupid remarks are unstop-able and will be picked to shreds by the media and anyone with a functioning brain. Yes, I want to believe a majority of people in this country still have functioning brains.

You rubes are hilarious.

Bachmann is such an “embarrassment” that she beat her democrat opponent by over 13 points with the help of 500,000 contributors who donated $13 million to her campaign.

heh

Dennis, she beat her opponent in a highly favorable year for Republicans in one highly conservative congressional district. That district was carefully gerrymandered for her to be full of the kind of rubes who would vote for any charlatan who thumps a Bible loudly enough.

If she runs statewide or nationwide, she would not be defeated so much as she would be humiliated.

and I’m pretty sure that at least 20 of the people who gave her money were from her district. or Minnesota.

Dennis, if the amount of campaign money raised is the metric you use to determine a candidate’s worthiness, then you must LLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOVE Obama.

MIchele Bachmann has NOTHING to offer the state of Minnesota, let alone the Nation. Her quest for attention any way she can get it is nothing more than her “Look at me! Look at what I am doing and what I am saying!” EGOTISM!!

Michele is an extraordinarily intelligent, bold, effective and well spoken woman. I am pretty sure that’s why liberal progressives are so full of malice toward her. Michele Bachmann doesn’t have aberrant or strange beliefs, but has standard traditional American values.
Many liberal progressives don’t believe in liberty, unless it’s the liberty to kill your baby before it’s born. Or the liberty to make your neighbor pay for your responsibilities through bail outs and welfare. Liberal progressives don’t have a morality anchored to the real world and God. That’s why they think Homosexuals should have special rights above everyone else. For example: Right now we all have the same rights. Heterosexuals can marry someone of the opposite sex and so can Homosexuals. Liberals act like morality is based on feelings and desires, the consequences to society be damned.

Yes Dennis, the entire district is an embarrassment to have elected her.

Keep drinking the GOP grape juice Lee.

Michele Bachmann is an opportunist and hypocrite in the purest form. She can care less about the people in her District here in Minnesota. Bachmann is out to serve her own self interests. “Health care for me, but not for thee” attitude has earned her more scorn than praise.

Bachmann is all for the Corporate Wealthy and super rich than she is for the down and out. Not very Christian of her if you ask me.

Tax Cuts for the wealthy and Corporations that do not have to be paid for..YES!!! Assistance to the Poor, Uninsured, and Unemployed…NO!!
