O’Reilly: Bachmann, Palin snubbing media after Arizona shootings

Conservative Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly noted on Thursday that Rep. Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin have snubbed the media over the last week — in particular his show. Bachmann, who in recent months has made multiple national cable appearances, has done none this week, according to her YouTube channel and a search of cable news websites. Bachmann went from six major media appearances to zero in the course of a week — the week following shootings in Tucson that some have said may have had something to do with violent rhetoric by the pair.

O’Reilly said Bachmann and Palin should’ve come on his show because he defended them in the wake of last Saturday’s assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

“Monday night, I launched a devastating attack on the people who did this to Congresswoman Bachmann and Governor Palin,” O’Reilly said. “It wasn’t a personal attack. There were no personal deals at all. It was just the facts: bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. I would assume that both ladies would say, ‘O’Reilly has it nailed. I’m going to say how it affected me personally, thereby not only engendering sympathy… but a lot of hearts and minds have been changed this week. A lot of liberal people are saying, ‘You know what, it’s gone too far.’ And that’s why I think they should’ve come on.”

Here’s O’Reilly commenting on Bachmann and Palin’s lack of media presence this week:

In the week before the Tucson shooting, Bachmann did at least six major media appearances: Sean Hannity, the Today Show, Fox News’ On the Record, ABC’s Top Line, CNSNews, and WCCO’s Sunday Morning.

The 2 of ‘em ain’t talking because they don’t know what to do. If they can’t make their usual snarky remarks (the country doesn’t want that right now if ever again), what else can they do? Palin is gone. It remains to be seen what Bachmann will do with her life.

Right arm, Kevin! A great response by Bachmann would be to appear on O’Reilly, “both guns ablazin!’” So to speak.

For once I agree with Bill O’Reilly; the aversion to Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann’s violent rhetoric has nothing to do with “gender bias” and it’s asinine to make the claim based on… what, exactly? No male politician had crosshairs over the districts of democratic politicians, no male politician was saying “don’t retreat, reload!” If a male politician had done so, we’d be making the same arguments – that this rhetoric has no place in civil discussion. Threats of violence, talking about guns; it’s just not smart and even if what happened in Tuscon has nothing to do with the rhetoric, we were still reminded by the possible consequences of inflammatory language and people are now saying that enough is enough! Stop walking around talking out of your ass and start doing a little reading so you have some intelligent things to say, instead of banal slogans and parroted talking points.

With Michele Bachmann, it has been vitriol since she entered Congress. AS much as she rails against the Government, she wants very much to be a part of it.

Or perhaps Michele’s mouth has finally caught up with her.

Maybe they don’t WANT to go on BOR’s show. Maybe they’d like to get a word in edgewise when they’re interviewed.

Palin will be on Hannity’s show Monday night.
O’Reilly’s just jealous.

Bachmann has a history of appearing with Hannity also. We’ll see what happens when she gets back from the trip with her family.

And Shannon, I think you’re confused. This thread isn’t about Keith Ellison.

Keith Ellison is also calling for toning down the rhetoric, so I’m not sure what planet you’re on Dennis. Probably the one where everyone hates Muslims just because they’re Muslims?
