After November gun trouble, Hackbarth proposes gun rights bill

A Republican legislator who was found in a Planned Parenthood parking lot with a loaded gun in late November has offered a constitutional amendment for gun rights. Rep. Tom Hackbarth lost his leadership roles in the House after a police stopped him in a Planned Parenthood parking lot in St. Paul with a loaded gun in his car. Hackbarth said he was in the parking lot checking up on a woman he met on the internet.

Hackbarth introduced H. F. 131, which proposes an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution “providing that the right of citizens to keep, bear, and use arms for certain purposes is fundamental and shall not be infringed.”

Hackbarth was cuffed and his weapon confiscated during the November incident. The gun was given back to him later and no charges were filed. He said he was simply looking for his girlfriend.

“I was looking for my girlfriend,” a police report quotes Hackbath as saying. “It was a stupid jealousy thing. I thought she was seeing another guy and I was going to check on her. She was suppose(d) to be at one of the shops over here, so I parked my truck and went to look for her car.”

Hackbarth, who was married but legally separated at the time he was looking for his girlfriend, was stripped of his position as chair of the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee.

After all, the Second Amendment means nothing if a guy can’t pack heat while he stalks a woman who brushed him off after two or three dates.

I tweeted:

GOPer Hackbarth: “The right to pack heat while checking up on a two-timing woman met on the intertubes shall not be infringed.” #mnleg

Which resulted in this tweet:

Too funny! DM to me: “But TPT, Hackbarth would just chase her down with a lawn chair if guns were illegal…” #StribPol #mnleg

Hey, even the occasional republican has been known to be stupid.

You could have knocked me over with a feather with that honest admission, Dennis! Probably the first sensible comment in a long, long while …

What about a man’s right to stalk womans?
What about a man’s right not be two-timed by some jezebel?
What about a man’s right to defend his “manhood” against rejection?

Ever since the gubmint said that no means no, and we all know it means yes, our rights as men has been gettin’ stomped on.

C’mon, Hackbarth, let’s get some amendments covering those rights. We already can carry loaded guns. What we cain’t do is use them to intimidate womans.

We want our freedoms back! We don’t want no gubmint tellin’ us what we can or cain’t do when it comes to womans. You set a good example by “huntin’” that jezebel, now make it our constitutional right. God bless America.

Well, Justice Scalia has said that the 14th amendment only covers what citizen meant at the time, so no woman are protected.

I’m sure the founders could not have imagined semi automatic weapons, rifling, or 30 round magazines. According to Scalia the 2nd amendment should only cover muskets and muzzle loaders, and flint lock pistols.

They let this nutcase have his gun back?
I’m trying to picture the outcome of this event if he had been a) a person of color b) a Muslim
c) a woman

I don’t know what is freakier about this dude.. He parks in an abortion clinic parking lot with a loaded weapon or he is STALKING a woman AFTER 2 DATES with a loaded weapon.. Yo Hackbarth ~~ You could REALLY show that bitch a lesson if you get 33 round magazine clip!!

“According to Scalia the 2nd amendment should only cover muskets and muzzle loaders, and flint lock pistols.”

Nonsense. The Founders meant arms suitable for combat. So if anything, we should be able to buy a machine gun or even a nuclear weapon if we could afford it. Why should the government be able to decide who gets one and who doesn’t?

So Dennis I assume with that nuclear weapon remark you have decided that any sane citizens should ever take a single thing you post as meaningful? That would be my guess after such a head up his backside remark… sure was not a joke, not even within eyesight of funny.

Exactly, Dennis. Its rite ther in the constitushun, it says “the right to bear arms suitable for combat……….”

That why you got to read the constitution, and if it ain’t in there it ain’t constitushionallical. Just like when they said “all men are created equal” in the declaration, they ment all men suitable for combat, see how that werks? Its different. Slaves wasnt sutable for combat, see? So even though sum think “all men” would mean “all men”, it duznt, it means “suitable for combat”.

Now if the 2nd amendmunt said “a well-regulated militia”, well golly if that don’t mean combat what would? But Scalia said that was just a throwaway line, kind of like “all persons” in the 14th amendment. Thats why we ignore it so everyone can have weapons suitable for combat.

If the fownders had intended the constitusion to be interpreted, why did they chisel it into stone? End of discushon.

God Bless America!!!

So Dennis..

Why would you need to be armed for combat when your stalking a girl that you dated Twice??

Not having a Republican governor to rubber-stamp their agenda, the Minnesota GOP is attempting to make an end-run around the governor to commit their acts of culture terrorism. We have had more constitutional amendments proposed in this legislature than in the last 6 combined, and ALL of them follow the conservative culture-terrorism agendas.

Jaha. I count four already – and we’re still in the first month of Minnesota GOP legislative control! If we the people have to vote on every issue, we might as well disband the Legislature. Sheesh.
