I'm betting that Grand Ole Days has a permit; ya think? I'm also betting that if people start to violate the terms of the permit the police would indeed show up and tell them to leave.

The fact is, jonerik, that even the protesters are admitting they were acting in violation of their permit; which ended at 5:00.

That's right. If a lot of people just show up at something like Grand Ole Days, do the police show up and tell them : we'll throw your butts in jail if you don't leave pronto? Parades need permits. People just showing up to look at something don't. . Or have we reached the point where we need a permit to travel to St. Paul?

correction to story: there was an announcement from Anti-War Committee organizers on the stage to march. i was there and i heard them say it, and i have the announcments on video. i appreciated Britt's article though…………this whole permit stuff…did they really even need a permit AT ALL–the First Amendment says nothing about needing a permit to peacefully assemble–and they were definitely peaceful. i wonder if all the police brutality lawsuits will partially hinge on the issue of permits….that would be ridiculous.

The permit was to last until 7:00 p.m. , Woot, noy 5:00 p.m. The cops had it wrong. Was that on purpose? I don't know but you should know better since the facts are all over this blog. You have no excuse for not getting your facts straight.

I have always said I should be paid $1000 an hour; I've had pretty much the same result, except without the tear gas.

The police don't issue permits, and they have no authority to change the terms of the permit. I'm sure they appreciated knowing the intention to illegally march all along though.

Wait, what?

The permit was for 3:00 to 5:00. The fact is that the protesters decided they would unilaterally reschedule their permit. Doesn't work like that.

The police, in an astounding show of restraint and patience, allowed the (now) illegally assembled mob to march around for nearly two hours after they were to have disbursed. Then, after one more warning, they began arresting people.

Are you being paid to post disinformation, or is this just a fun hobby for you guys?
