Pawlenty at CPAC: Obama, don’t apologize for America

Speech comes after straw poll, during Obama's Egypt speech

Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty gave his stump speech to conservatives gathered at CPAC Friday afternoon by offering up a series of digs at Barack Obama. He angrily told the president to stop apologizing for America and listed the Muslim Brotherhood as one of America’s adversaries. Pawlenty’s speech, however, was overshadowed by Obama’s own address to the nation about Egypt, and it was delivered after the closing of voting in the coveted CPAC straw poll.

Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy introduced Pawlenty. “He is a great Midwesterner with a friendly disposition. It is my pleasure to introduce the best governor Minnesota has ever had.”

Pawlenty walked in to the strain of Kid Rock’s “Born Free.” He told Duffy, who is a former star of the MTV show the Real World and a lumberjack sportsman, “Bring that budget axe and swing it hard, baby!”

Pawlenty said, “I’m not one who questions the president’s birth certificate, but don’t you wonder what planet he’s from?”

“He’s been really good at duping the mainstream media,” he added. “The policies of the left encroach every day on the freedom that makes our country great. We will never stop fighting for our freedom.”

He talked about the nation’s founders and how they created America “under God.”

“We as a nation need to turn towards God, not away from God,” he said.

He also spoke about fixing the nation’s budget deficit. “We need more common sense and less Obama nonsense,” he said. “There may be some Democrats in the room so I’ll say it really slow so they can understand: We can’t spend more than we take in.”

He also touted his accomplishment in Minnesota. “I come from the state of McCarthy, Mondale, Humphrey, Wellstone, and now United States Senator Al Franken,” Pawlenty said, generating boos from the audience. “But we cut government in Minnesota, and if we can do it there we can do it anywhere!”

He continued, “I drew a line in the sand and said, ‘Absolutely not.’” He bragged about having set the record for the most vetoes of bills in one year in Minnesota and touted the government shutdown as a major accomplishment.

“We had the first government shutdown in my state in the history of my state,” he said.

He outlined three federal policies he’d like to see. “We should not raise the debt ceiling, we should pass a constitutional amendment to finally balance the budget, and — here’s one I know you will agree with — we should repeal ‘ObamaCare.’”

Pawlenty also called for a more aggressive foreign policy. “Bullies respect strength, they don’t respect weakness,” he said. “So when the U.S. projects its national security interests around the world, we need to do it with strength.”

He called Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood “bullies.”

“Mr. President, when it comes to bullies, might makes right,” he said. “Strength makes them submit. We need to get tough with our enemies.”

Pawlenty added, “Mr. President, stop apologizing for our country.”

The last few minutes of Pawlenty’s speech were cribbed almost directly from his book trailer and send the crowd into chants of “T-Paw.”

Here’s the trailer:

“Pawlenty also called for a more aggressive foreign policy.”

Hmmmmmmm……………

So what country is HE thinking of invading? Corporations certainly get rich when we do that don’t they? Too bad a whole bunch of American kids have to die, but what the heck – as long as those corporate profits keep on coming and those shareholders get their cut. We can always make more babies and kids I guess. They’re expendable.

T-Paw is and will continue to be irrelevant.

T- Paw your a DOUCHE.. Obama has NEVER apologized for America. (although he should). Just because we’re not dropping bombs on Egypt and Iran doesn’t mean he is an apologist.. It means he is diplomatic which is NEEDED after George W Douche and his disastrous foreign policies.. It drives me INSANE when hacks like Gov T bags who has NEVER worn a military uniform invokes the “spirit of America” by talking tough yet NEVER proving his own ‘Manliness’.. Sorry T baggs I don’t want you shining your loafers on the back of my military service…

Obama’s a wimp, which is exactly how democrats like their presidents. Don’t want to rile up the bad guys or anything. They might get mad at us.

It’s obvious democrat foreign policy philosophy was learned on the 7th grade playground when they were shaken down for their lunch money.

Right, Comrade Dennis! Our Republic must invade and destroy the threat of Islam before it takes over our beloved Republic and converts us all into infidels who renounce the triune God and our Constitution!!!

T-Paw is a weak politician.

Notice how he has gone far right all of a sudden? What is he apologizing for? The way he governed for 8 years??

Why are there so many reality tv people in the Republican party? Haven’t the smart people of society agreed that reality stars are vapid, brainless, no-talent, fame whores? I’ve never watched The Real World because I can read but isn’t the premise of that show a bunch of drunk, horny, idiots live in a house together and act like the scum of the Earth for people’s amusement? I’m not dissing celebrity politicians per se just the sheer lack in judgment in electing a Real World star. Arnold made Total Recall, Al Franken wrote for SNL during their best years. What talent does it take to get on The Real World?

Interviewer: So what talents do you have for The Real World?
Rep. Sean Duffy(R-Wisconsin): Well I can drink my body weight, I have six pack abs, and I am willing to have sex in a dumpster.
Interviewer: Amazing! You got it kid! You’re hired!

I just can’t wait for Congresswoman Snooki R-New Jersey.

Dennis — While you stupidly call President Obama ‘w wimp’, he’s quietly and very effectively been eliminating the Taliban — something GW Bush couldn’t do, no matter how tough he talked.

Government shutdown as “a major accomplishment”?

tsk tsk

But go ahead, Timmy, and keep flaunting your abysmal lack of leadership, business and political skills to the whole world. Not exactly what someone jockeying for the CEO position in a major corporation would do, don’tcha think? And run on your own merits; just leave the proud people of Minnesota out of your pathetic shenanigans.

As an apple tree, the researchers at the University of Minnesota would have chopped him down a long time ago. He ain’t no SweeTango.

When does Tim’s unemployment run out? Last week he was talking about his three trips to Iraq and two trips to Afghanistan. Was he campaigning for president there too? Did we pay his airfare? Frankly I wish one of those poor countries, obviously in need of strong leaders, had opted to put him to work and kept him. A world class leader like Tim could have cleaned them up in a trice.

Given Timmy’s bad-mouthing our great state, he’s disqualified himself from being buried at Lakewood Cemetery. Bah!

“The policies of the left encroach every day on the freedom that makes our country great. We will never stop fighting for our freedom.”

I always ask – What freedoms are being lost?- I never get an answer.

They’re talking about the freedom to starve to death in a country that has plenty of food. The freedom to die from a curable illness because of lack of health insurance. The freedom to be trampled by corporations and the rich men who run them. You gotta love those freedoms.

The only freedoms that have been lost have been taken away by the Right.

Habeas Corpus

civil rights that are infringed on and not given period

Freedom to marry anyone.

right to choose your family in all states equally across the board.

The Conservative extreme right, such as the fundies are all pro-choice untill born.
