Bachmann ‘heartsick’ that she can’t defund health care reform

Rep. Michele Bachmann told the Conservative Republican Forum podcast on Saturday that she was “heartsick” in learning on Friday that the new Republican majority in the U.S. House was powerless to defund the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. She said that winning the Senate and the presidency in 2012 would be the top priority for defunding proponents — meaning the health care reform law will remain in place for at least two years.
“I think what rank-and-file Republicans need to understand is that there is a commitment” to defunding health care reform — or “Obamacare,” as she refers to it, but “information that we have just discovered within this last week is… the insidious nature of what President Obama and Speaker Pelosi put into place in order to actually implement ‘Obamacare.’”
“We were under the thinking that we would have it within our authority in the House of Representatives to defund ‘Obamacare,’” she said. “We thought we had the authority to do the defunding.”
But, Bachmann discovered, that’s not the case.
“What we came to understand is that Speaker Pelosi put the funding for ‘Obamacare’ into mandatory spending, which means we are prohibited by law from touching that spending. They knew what they were doing, because they knew that they wanted socialized medicine to continue even if they lost the majority.”
She said it means that the tea party will need to win the “Triple Crown” in 2012.
“In other words we have to win the White House, win the Senate with 60 votes and the House of Representatives. This will be an uphill battle, but we can do it,” she said. “The tea party demonstrated that we can have victories, and we need to band together and explain to people that the only way that we will get rid of this government takeover of private industry and all of the sea of red ink that the liberals are producing is if we replace the White House, the Senate and the House.”
“I wish I had better news for you,” she added.
“I spent a long time on Friday with people in the know who understand the mechanics of the budget,” she said. “I was heartsick. I was absolutely heartsick because I had been working with Steve King on our goal, which was to defund ‘Obamacare’ in the next two year period, and I didn’t want to take ‘no’ for an answer.”
She added, “And we are putting together a task force right now to study this issue to see if there is anything at all that we could find out” about the possibilities for defunding health care reform.

God hates health care and Michele feels His pain. Hilarious.

Michele is so sad that she can’t give a proper kickback to her corporate masters…

What an idiot! How is it that she’s the last person to know this? It’s been reported for months now that the Health Care Reform bill was passed as a non discressionary funding bill, the house does NOT get to vote on non discressionary funding. For someone who is so against “Obamacare” you’d think she’d know what’s in it. Clearly she does not.

She may be heartsick about being unable to defund healthcare but she is not loosing any sleep over the unemployment and foreclosure numbers in her district. What a joke.

this reminds me of Sarah. Sarah never knows what she’s talking about and here we have Michelle Bachmann making an utterly ridiculous statement. But on the bright side this shows that her Republican counterpart’s in the house are ignoring her and not giving her information. Although any representative of the brain would have figured out that it has to go to the Senate and the president

What a witch! I wish she could trade places with my friend who is dying at age 45 because she didn’t have health insurance. Then she would really be heartsick. Why do good people have to suffer because of selfish idiots like Michele “B”?

This woman doesn’t even understand what it is the legislation she votes on can and cannot wreck.
I am still waiting for her to elaborate on her statement on those founding fathers who tirelessly fought against he institution of slavery. I ask her to name one.

May she loose her tax paying health care, and all her riches and have to find health care on her own,. It would be justice.

Well then Marie, don’t you think it’s noble that a politician would actually be for eliminating a government service that they themselves benefit from? We used to have politicians who would run for a meaningless office on the promise that they would eliminate it if elected. You don’t see that too much anymore.
Rather than criticizing Bachmann for trying to eliminate an expensive boondoggle that will bankrupt this country, especially if you believe it would benefit her personally, why don’t you attack the politicians who vote to give themseles pay raises and generous retirement benefits?

If she is heartsick it is probably something she swallowed, like guano.

LOL Dennis…you really aren’t naive enough to think their benefits for life are going anywhere soon, regardless of what any bill for the unwashed masses says, do you? That is hilarious, absolutely frickin hilarious! Do you not understand that their futures of security and health care are already that of a king. They get retirement pay forever along with healthcare, golden parachutes, FOREVER, after only 5 years in service, but they have us squabbling over any pensions at all! Unbelievable!
