The U.S. House has voted 255-172 in favor of restricting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.
The bill, H.R. 910, the Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011, was sponsored by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.). Its stated purpose:
To amend the Clean Air Act to prohibit the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from promulgating any regulation concerning, taking action relating to, or taking into consideration the emission of a greenhouse gas to address climate change, and for other purposes.
The measure — which was cosponsored by Minnesota Republican Reps. Michele Bachmann and John Kline, along with Democrat Collin Peterson — now goes to to the U.S. Senate for a vote, where it needs a two-thirds majority of support to pass. The Senate voted down similar legislation on Wednesday.

There are worse thing to leave your children than some debt, and the Republicans want all of them.

Oh come on. God won’t let us destroy the environment. It says that in the Bible. Right?
Praise Jebus God hates cleanliness, Amen.

We absolutely need to reduce greenhouse gases and start marching forward despite those who play games because they are afraid to change! All the economic arguments, the arguments that global warming isn’t real… they are arguments made by a few people who will have to find a different way to get rich if they are forced to act on the truth that their livelihood is hurting the environment. It’s hurting the environment in a huge way. It’s hurting us all. We should stop subsidizing oil, stop subsidizing the removal of trees, and START doing everything we can to use green energy and stop greenhouse gas emissions. It’s not so hard if you don’t let those few people bog you down into debate.
