Airport Prayer Room Sought Following Imams’ Incident

A small group of Muslim men staged a pray-in session in the Twin Cities international airport on Friday afternoon, urging airport officials to consider a secluded prayer room.
The airport doesn’t have a meditation room similar to that of other airports, officials told the news media. But they said that they will consider the idea.
The Muslim men, led by a local Imam, said that they hoped to avert another incident akin to that of Nov. 20, when six Muslim Imams were removed from a US Airways flight bound to Phoenix, Arizona.
They also said that they hoped to establish a channel of communication between Muslims and other communities, who often don’t know about their faith and culture.
In Phoenix, the six Imams and an interfaith crowd of about 100 protested in front of US Airways headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, according to the Arizona Republic. One of the Imams told the paper that they will likely file a civil lawsuit against the airline.
