Bachmann surges to second place in nationwide poll

Presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann has increased her share of likely Republican support to about 18 percent, according to a nationwide poll released today.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney maintains his lead, according to the poll, with 27 percent support. But Bachmann has fought her way to second place in the polls, despite a number of missteps and public controversies, including criticisms of the clinic run by Bachmann’s husband and leaks to a conservative website that Bachmann suffered from debilitating migraines.
It was just last month that Bachmann was stagnant at 7 percent in the Gallup poll. But it appears that recent gains in Iowa, where she’s taken a small lead in polls, have helped her profile nationwide.
The entrance of a number of other candidates like Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could eat into Bachmann’s support.
University of Iowa Professor Tim Hagle told the Minnesota Independent earlier this month that Palin’s entrance to the race doesn’t necessarily hurt Bachmann worse than it does other candidates because many of the Republican candidates are trying to pull from that same tea party base of support. The data from the poll seems to confirm Hagle’s observation, as a Palin run would hurt Bachmann’s campaign less than a Perry run.
The Gallup poll has a margin of error of four points and was conducted with 1,000 likely Republican voters between July 20-24.

I don’t know what Iowa polls Jon Collins is looking at but Bachmann has a huge lead:

The Minnesota-born and Nobel Award-winning writer once said that “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.” For Michele Bachmann to be taken as a serious candidate for President, is proof that Lewis was right.

But how will Mitt get chosen? He is a Mormon and the majority of Christians will frown upon that. Right?

Bachman will get it done? Get what done? Never seen or heard of her doing anything.
I most certainly wins the nomination though I have a dollar on her not finnishing the primarys.
I think the clinic that takes in government funds is hypocrisy in its most blatant form.
I know if she wins Obama will have a smoke right after closing the door to the white house patting her on the behind as she leaves..

Somebody asked how Mitt a Mormon can win. This is an easy question to answer. As long as no strong moderate emerges in the Republican field, Romney has already won. Romney takes the West because he is Mormon and moderate. Hate to tell Evangelicals this, but it is cool to be Mormon in the West among Republicans. We are not Huckabee or Palin cooks here. There are a million Mormons in California. Almost all of them vote in Republican primaries. End of story. Romney takes the North. He is from Michigan and Massachusettes. Bachmann and/or Perry takes the South and the Midwest. There are more electorial votes in the North and the West than in the South and the Midwest. Plus Romney may even take a few Midwest or Southern States. He might take Virginia or a state like Kansas.

Effective? Her legislative record of accomplishments is nonexistent – that’s a failure by any definition. Right on the issues? Her extreme religious views have no business in our Constitution and government and issues. Knows how to work well with others? Even her R colleagues have even dumped her. She has an epic legacy of division that has created a toxic environment. Oh we know she’s the real deal. That’s what’s scaring the hell out of so many of us.

Either way… another landslide win for Obama. All the GOP candidates are throw-aways just making a lot of money off spreading their outdated hate and fear messages with no real substance to show for but the funds they’ll collect from the conservatives who fall for the lies and discrimination babble. Parsites sucking money out of people who’ve they’ve somehow convinced they have a shot at winning POTUS. I guess many of the brainwashed right-wing religious nutjobs believe in illusions so I guess it’s an easy sell and a quick buck for the candidates. A fool and his money are easily parted.
