Bachmann to oppose all debt ceiling increases
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 9:55 am
Presidential contender and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann said today that she plans to vote against any proposal to raise the debt ceiling.
“I haven’t had one person come up to me yet and say, ‘Michele, we need a balanced approach, we have to increase taxes because we have to keep this level of spending going,’” Bachmann said on CNN’s American Morning.
Despite her opposition, Bachmann said she thinks House Speaker John Boehner and President Barack Obama will find a compromise.
“Washington has their fingers in their ears right now. They’re not listening to the American people,” Bachmann said. “That’s why I am adamant, I will vote no on increasing the debt ceiling. We need sanity back in Washington.”
Bachmann’s spokesman told the Star Tribune that even Republican legislation didn’t go far enough.
“She continues to oppose an increase in the debt ceiling,” spokeswoman Becky Rogness said, “because there needs to be a fundamental restructuring in how Washington spends taxpayer dollars.”
Bachmann also said that Obama would be like a “dictator” if he invokes the 14th Amendment to unilaterally raise the ceiling, as The Hill reported.
Bachmann has accused Obama of using “scare tactics” in the debt ceiling debate, and previously insisted that failing to raise the ceiling won’t cause default, although some experts have said that isn’t true.

““we need sanity back in Washington.””
Does that mean she is turning in her resignation?

“I haven’t had one person come up to me yet and say, ‘Michele, we need a balanced approach, we have to increase taxes because we have to keep this level of spending going,’” Bachmann said on CNN’s American Morning.
-That is probably true since she controls access to her speeches.
“That’s why I am adamant, I will vote no on increasing the debt ceiling.”
-Sounds like she intends to show up for this vote so the MN sixth district will finally be represented in a vote
“Bachmann also said that Obama would be like a ‘dictator’ if he invokes the 14th Amendment to unilaterally raise the ceiling, as The Hill reported.”
-Bachmann ceaselessly talks about her intent to dictate if elected
Big Hair Bad Makeup Bachmann, the candidate subservient to her husband because the bible tells her so.

Irresponsible. Out of touch. Wrong on the issue. She’s already crafted her narrative IF the debt ceiling isn’t lifted and all hell breaks loose. Admitting that she was wrong won’t be a part of her strategy. She dump all the blame on Obama, the Dems and continue her campaign of distractions – serving up a little hate on the side. It’s too her favor in helping create this crisis if she’s too have any hope for the White House.

I agree with Jeff and Roman. She is rather boring and becoming so totally irrelevant also.
* eye roll *
I will agree though, that we need to rethink spending. How about not going into false wars for a start?

Well she is right that “Washington has their fingers in their ears right now. They’re not listening to the American people”. Problem is I don’t think what they’re saying means what she think it means. I’m hearing tax the rich, not break the bank!

I agree with Bachmann that we need sanity in Washington. She and the rest of her tea party buddies should leave Congress. That will go a long way toward restoring sanity.
