Update: The Pawlenty campaign responded to the charge at Politico, saying the campaign expects an apology.

“We’ve asked Simon repeatedly since that exchange for more information about whatever he was talking about, and he’s unwilling or unable to provide it,” Conant said. “It appears he was misled or at a minimum had bad information.”

An Iowa radio host questioned former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty on a rumor that his campaign staff has been digging up dirt on Republican presidential rival U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.

The WHO host, Simon Conway, said he had evidence, which he didn’t present, that former interns for Bachmann were being contacted and asked to “go on the record with dirt” on her campaign.

Pawlenty said he didn’t know anything of the practice and said the accusations probably weren’t based on the whole story.

Bloggers have previously blamed Pawlenty’s campaign for leaking a story that Bachmann suffers from migraines, which featured three anonymous sources, to the conservative Daily Caller. Pawlenty also denied the earlier accusations.

Timmy’s got a pretty poor record on campaign ethics.

In any event, if migraines are the worst dirt his campaign can dig up on Rep. Bachmann, they are either more inept than I thought, or really afraid of alienating the crazy segment of the Republican base.

As long as T-Paw is there would you please keep him? He has cost MN to much! His affiliation with T.Boone and the renewable energy mandates he has convinced many other states to take part in are costing every tax and rate payer with higher utility costs, more taxes to fund exorbitant subsidies to private developers such as the AWA Goodhue Wind scam in MN. The community based C-BED tax money meant for local development has been stolen from Goodhue county MN to go directly to T.Boone in TX. who is is 99% owner of that project. The MNPUC has further insulted and broken its own state statute by “Not recognizing a county’s right to write more strict standards.” T.Paw’s false GREEN agenda is having huge consequences now. He will need to answer for his poor judgement. I’ll not be surprised to see T.Boone contributing to his campaign since they are deep in one anothers pockets.
You can have him. MN doesn’t want him!

OK I’m not siding with Timmy P but I have to admit that personally, I’d LOVE to hear from some of the foster kids that stayed with the Bachmann’s, their own personal stories of what that was like. It’s funny how defensive the Bachmanns are about having their personal lives exposed. You know CULTS also hide a lot of their practices and beliefs in a lot of secrecy. If people aren’t doing anything wrong then what do they have to hide? Puts up a MAJOR red flag for most people. Don’t they realize that EVERY aspect of their life is put under the microscope by the media and public when wanting to be POTUS?
