Debt ceiling ad 500

Liberal groups unleash ads on Cravaack on debt ceiling

A coalition of liberal groups announced today that they would be running ads in Duluth over the weekend that connect freshman U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack to failed debt ceiling talks in Washington, D.C.

The ad argues that if action isn’t taken on the debt ceiling by the Tuesday deadline, that it could impact Social Security payments, veteran benefits and military pay — all of which is a real possibility, according to the president.

The ad urges constituents to contact Cravaack; the Minnesota congressman has said he opposes raising the debt ceiling.

Seven other variations of the same ad, which was produced by Americans United for Change, are being run against other Republicans who oppose raising the debt ceiling.

This ad was sponsored by American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the National Education Association (NEA). Americans United for Change does not need to disclose donors, but they’ve received money from Moveon.org and unions like the Teamsters in the past.

Cravaack is also being targeted this election cycle by a Democratic Super PAC, House Majority PAC, as the Minnesota Independent reported in mid-July.

Cravaack wouldn’t even vote for the Boehner version!
