Republican ads target Tim Walz on health care

Rep. Tim Walz is being targeted by the National Republican Congressional Committee with a television ad critical of his vote for health care reform. The move comes after a series of robocalls by the NRCC. Walz is in his third term in Minnesota’s First Congressional District and has only one announced challenger, Randy Demmer. Demmer lost to Walz in 2010.
“There’s a cloud over our economy,” the narrator says over the backdrop of a thunderstorm. “Tim Walz’s government takeover of health care. Fear and uncertainty prevent new hiring. Steep fines and new taxes on families and businesses. Half a trillion dollars – money they can’t use to create jobs. Experts say Obama-Schrader will push employers to drop workers’ health insurance. With Walz and Obama…the storm will only get worse.”
According to Roll Call, the ad buy will be $10,000 over three weeks starting Tuesday on cable TV.
Last week, the NRCC hit Walz with robo calls, blaming Walz for the nation’s credit downgrade:
“Tim Walz and his fellow Democrats’ addiction to big government spending has led to a downgrade of America’s credit rating and a dramatic loss in the global markets that could force you to pay more for everyday expenses. While Tim Walz keeps standing in the way of real fiscal reform, middle-class families in Minnesota could now see a loss in retirement savings while mortgage rates, car payments and student loans could become even more expensive.”
Walz has been viewed as vulnerable by Republican since he won the seat in an upset against Republican Gil Gutknecht in 2006. He beat Gutknecht by 6 percent that year, by 30 percent against Brian Davis in 2008 and by 5 percent against Demmer in 2008.
Demmer registered his 2012 campaign against Walz in Febraury and the campaign has a debt of $93,000. Walz had $400,000 on hand at the end of June.

In 2010, Randy Demmer tried to pin Tim Walz’s Health Care vote as a “Vote for SOCIALIZED Medicine.” Demmer’s unsecessful bid to unseat Walz based on this issue alone was what gave Walz a 3rd term.
This is old news. If this is all the RNCC can come up with, it is the GOP who have a lot of explaining to do. For people who know Tim know where he stands on the issues.
Tim Walz is not a Michele Bachmann niether. He works the District as he was elected to do. He meets with constituents, holds Town Halls, Issues Summits, and so forth. He does need to be a TV Celebrity. If he ran for the Senate ot perhaps Governor, he would win. FOr Tim is a people person who listens to the people, gets their input before a vote, keeps them informed, not assumes he knows what is best for them.

Randy Demmer is a class act. Tim Walz is a liar and apparently Bachmann’s supporters aren’t the only ones drinking the kool-aid. This certainly isn’t all the NRCC can come up with, it’s just one of many things (cap and trade anyone?)n they have against Walz who despite trying to pretend to be a moderate is a closet liberal. Keep it straight with the people of the first so we know what we are electing. With Demmer you get an open minded, thoughtful person who is conservative but not tea party crazy. Walz had no problem falling in line with Obama’s policies until the Dems lost control of congress.
Also to say Walz attends tons of meetings and such that’s a bunch of garbage because he’s bailed on my county and city meetings throughout his time in office. Also, I can’t even tell you how many times he hasn’t been at the county fair and such. He’s MIA in the first until it’s election time-then you catch the Nebraskan out all across southern Minnesota.
There isn’t a chance Walz would win a Senate seat in the first and he sure as heck wouldn’t get endorsed for Governor. That’s ridiculous!
We need real Minnesotans in the first, people who really represent the first district to be running. Walz is not all that he pretends to be and I will certainly be looking to see who runs against his uber liberal agenda.
