Parents Action League warns of ‘radical homosexual agenda’ in Anoka-Hennepin schools
Monday, August 22, 2011 at 7:56 am
The Parents Action League is circulating a petition to the Anoka-Hennepin School Board asking it to maintain a policy that limits discussions of LGBT issues in the classroom. The petition comes as six students and their parents are suing the district over alleged persistent bullying in its schools and are requesting the policy be dropped. PAL’s petition asserts that LGBT people suffer “life-threatening health risks” and a flier by the group warns of a “radical homosexual agenda.”
The petition reads:
Whereas homosexual behavior exposes participants to many life-threatening health risks; and whereas the classroom environment needs to be solely focused on academics; Therefore, we the undersigned citizens of Anoka-Hennepin School District No. 11 do whole heartedly support and desire that the School Board adhere to the following statement in the AH District 11 Sexual Orientation Curriculum Policy: ‘Teaching about sexual orientation is not a part of the District adopted curriculum; rather, such matters are best addressed within individual family homes, churches, or community organizations. Anoka-Hennepin staff, in the course of their professional duties, shall remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation including but not limited to student led discussions.’
In addition, the group is sending out a flier asking for support for the group.
“If you are a taxpayer in the Anoka-Hennepin School District, please read the attached flyer,” an email sent last week said. “The Parents Action League (PAL) would really appreciate your support. Thank you. May God Bless You and keep you in His care.”
The flier reads:
ALERT TO PARENTS/CITIZENS IN ANOKA-HENNEPIN SCHOOL DISTRICT #11!
Do you want your tax dollars used to promote a radical homosexual agenda in our public schools?
On February 9, 2009 the Anoka-Hennepin District #11 School Board passed the Sexual Orientation Curriculum Policy (Neutrality Policy). This policy makes it clear that “Teaching about sexual orientation is not a part of the District adopted curriculum; rather, such matters are best addressed within individual family homes, churches, or community organizations. Anoka-Hennepin staff, in the course of their professional duties, shall remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation including but not limited to student led discussions.”
This policy strengthens the authority and rights of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their own children—especially on sensitive topics such as sexual orientation. The Gay Equity Team and other radical homosexual activists in our school district are fighting to overturn this policy.
You can help!
Go to www.parentsactionleague.org and sign the online petition. Tell your friends and neighbors in District 11 to do the same. Show your support to the School Board. Let them know we want them to maintain the Sexual Orientation Curriculum Policy so our classrooms stayed focused on core academics.
This advertisement was paid for by the Parents Action League.
From its inception, PAL has advocated for “reparative therapy,” a type of counseling that alleges it can cure gays and lesbians of their homosexuality.
PAL spokesperson Barb Anderson, who also works with the Minnesota Family Council, recently told Americans for the Truth About Homosexuality, an organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center calls a hate group, that PAL is seeking the eliminate gay-straight alliances (GSAs) in the district.
“Because of the Equal Access act they feel that they have to allow this in the schools and they have not been able to put a stop to it, but there are parents getting organized and trying to plead the case that this really is harmful to students,” she said. “It is not providing them with healthy information. None of this is based on truth or scientific fact, especially if they are telling kids they are born this way.”

These Modern Day CHRISTIANS are nothing more than POWER-HUNGRY,GREEDY bunch of FOOLS and BIGOTS.I challange anyone to point out the passages in the BIBLE where KILLING PEOPLE for a different lifestyle is okay.

I would love to know if any of the Anoka/Hennepin School Board members sign this petition. If they do, I sure hope this is used against the district in all the lawsuits and to boot the board members out the door completely.

Barb Anderson is probably siphoning off PAL funds to pay herself an inflated salary. Most of these social conservative organizations are fronts for Republican party get-out-the-vote efforts and are used by their leaders to pay themselves fat salaries – all at the expense of GLBT people. These are truly cynical people.

“Whereas heterosexual behavior exposes participants to many life-threatening health risks” is equally true. Who’s discriminating? Gay people are feisty in demanding clarification about their EQUAL rights, as well they should be. Kids get their hatred from ignorant parents.

I’m shocked that PAL hasn’t brought up the other standard RW canard here: that rules against bullying somehow abridge their “freedom of religion”. After all, who doesn’t remember the part in the Gospels when Jeebus went out and beat up some gheyz? Hate is practically a sacrament for these folks…

I just visited PAL’s site and my first impression is that these folks are truly mentally unstable. I can’t imagine thinking about other people’s sexual habits/orientation 24/7. They are truly fixated.
What how they so afraid of? Their site is positively dripping with anxiety.

@vetinwbl:
there are actually quite a few Bible passages which laud the killing (and/or poor treatment) of people who are different/ones’ enemies. One need not look farther than the Psalms:
Psalm 137
By the rivers of Babylon—
there we sat down and there we wept
when we remembered Zion.
On the willows there
we hung up our harps.
For there our captors
asked us for songs,
and our tormentors asked for mirth, saying,
‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion!’
How could we sing the Lord’s song
in a foreign land?
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
let my right hand wither!
Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
above my highest joy.
Remember, O Lord, against the Edomites
the day of Jerusalem’s fall,
how they said, ‘Tear it down! Tear it down!
Down to its foundations!’
O daughter Babylon, you devastator!
Happy shall they be who pay you back
what you have done to us!
Happy shall they be who take your little ones
and dash them against the rock!
This particular Psalm advocates the killing of enemy babies. BABIES.
That being said – I reject the notion that bullying kids is okay: it is not okay. It is never okay. Furthermore, these parents who are so worried about the ‘Gay Equality Team” (I wish there was on, for real – I would join it!) destroying their values – they are correct. Because, well, bigotry is a value and it is being challenged here.
I think it’s sad that the school districts and schools are being used as fertile ground for the culture wars. But perhaps it has always been that way.
I vote for the “Gay Equality Team.” I hope they win.

These PAL people are using discredited research by one Paul Cameron. Every credible medical source will tell you that these people are projecting their own iniquities onto their perceived enemy. That enemy being the 1st, 9th, 10th, and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. These people hate American justice, jurisprudence and the Constitution because it goes completely against their own religious bigotry.

Gee, I never realized that protecting innocent kids from getting the crap beat out of them was part of the radical homosexual agenda. These people are despicable.
I’d love to see the neutrality policy go away, butat the same time, I don’t understand why the school district needs to even mention sexual orientation to suspend, expel, or even jail a bully for either physical or verbal harassment. Kids, call the cops! Parents, sue the little bastards!
Comment posted August 22, 2011 @ 4:25 pm
What it comes down to, is that they don’t want to acknowledge why kids bully. They learn it at home. The hate trickles down.
One can not stop the bully without addressing the reasons why they bully.
And accepting gay people, and families and enforcing that idea is not in anyway supporting it. So if they want to keep teaching the hate at home, let them, they also have to take consequences for their actions.
Comment posted August 22, 2011 @ 4:28 pm
Good grief, there is so much wrong with this petition I hardly know where to start.
“[PAL is]Trying to plead the case that this really is harmful to students” – so gay kids getting beat up isn’t harmful to students? Or they mean it isn’t harmful to students PAL gives a crap about? Gay students don’t count as real students I guess. It is egregious to claim that anti-bullying measures HARM students when kids are killing themselves left and right because they can’t take the harassment any more. These people are truly repulsive for suggesting that the “harm” of having to treat others with dignity and respect in any way equates with what gay/transgendered kids have to deal with. It shows how grossly out of touch these people are with what is really going on, and their audacity in presenting this petition is hateful. They want to keep the gay kids miserable, they want to keep the status quo. That’s the bottom line.
“it is not providing them with healthy information. None of this is based on truth or scientific fact, especially if they are telling kids they are born this way.” So, what, would this person prefer we insist that gay people aren’t born gay until it is proven otherwise? They want those annoying kids saying they were born gay to shut up because they’re not falling in line with the bigots’ worldview?? It sounds like they want to use this “neutral” policy to deny gay students the right to exercise their first amendment. They want bigoted parents to have total control over indoctrinating their children into their views, without pesky gay kids offering a different perspective, one of tolerance and understand of difference, that would throw a monkey wrench in their plans to raise the next generation of intolerant jerks.

The PAL people are beneath contempt and beyond the pale. Lies, exaggeration, and fear are their tools.
What is the “radical homosexual agenda”? It’s anything having to do with homosexuality that religious conservatives happen to disagree with at a moment in time and want to stamp out of existence. It has nothing to do with threats to family, children, marriage, the country, social stability, human well-being, or anything else.
The “radical homosexual agenda” is the religious right looking in the mirror at its own paranoia, vast stupidity and ignorance, misinformation and lies, and crying wolf.
Comment posted August 22, 2011 @ 4:35 pm
Oh and a follow-up on the “healthy information” bit. Does anyone else find this totally ironic? These are probably the same idiots who champion abstinence-only sex education, the “let’s keep our kids ignorant about the consequences of sex and then act really surprised when they turn out to be pregnant/infected with herpes,” route. It just seems funny to me that we’re running into a double-standard, and these people now want to insist that science and sex ed be used to explain why gay people are ‘unhealthy’. But let’s all just keep hush-hush about the fact that straight women are at a greater risk for getting lots of STD’s than gay people are, and that people who complete an abstinence-only curriculum are also more likely to contract an STD or become pregnant because they don’t know anything about contraception, because if we tell them TOO much about sex they’ll get all promiscuous.

Shannon,
Yes, yes, yes, agreed.
The religious right is not known for its intellectual coherence (or general curiosity, respect for science, knowledge about science, intellectual humility, reasoning ability, etc.). It seems there’s a necessary chaos and even madness in their worldview(s) that should be of concern to any thinking person.

With the school season about to start I would like to send a message to all LGBT student’s at Anoka-Hennepin school district. You are NOT alone. There
are thousands of Minnesota residents who care about you and support you. Despite your school districts “look the other way” policy about LGBT bullying
we are here for you. There are many places you can turn to for assistance. Our state is blessed with many faith communities that are welcoming and
inclusive to LGBT people. There are PFLAG organizations you can turn to for assistance and Outfront a local LGBT organization. If Anoka-Hennepin
insists on continuing with a “head in the sand” attitude on this issue then I urge the Minnesota Department of Education to make it mandatory that
this district post prominently throughout the school a poster with resource numbers for students who need help, including phone numbers for a suicide
hotline, First Call for Help, PFLAG info line and Outfront MN phone number. Also parents if your child is unhappy and struggling Anoka-Hennepin is NOT
the place for them use open enrollment to move them to somewhere like Edina School District with a more welcoming message. There is also online high
school or post secondary where they can attend community college in an environment where the teachers hands are not tied and they can stand up for ALL
students. Everyone deserves to attend school where they feel safe and included

Lets be clear folks, they are the same creature as NOM, MFC, FRC, Cathlicorp or Bradlee Dean. They ALL spew the same FALSE peer-repudiated garbage of one highly twisted sister, Paul Cameron. The Lifespan “study”, Paul Cameron. Second-hand smoke allegation, Paul Cameron. Gay Parenting. The Pedophilia allegation, Paul Cameron. MFC has this garbage on their website. Over 477,000 accredited and reputable organizations including the APA, ASA, AMA, The Academy of Pediatrics, and many others ALL disagree with Paul Cameron and state that homosexuality is is a natural and normal part of sexuality. It also occurs all over the animal kingdom in over 1500 species studied for those who need more education.
Here he is.
Paul Drummond Cameron was born November 9, 1939, in Pittsburgh (PA).
He received his BA from Los Angeles Pacific College in 1961; his MA from California State University, Los Angeles, in 1962; and his PhD from the University of Colorado in 1966. His dissertation was titled Age as a determinant of differences in non-intellective psychological functioning.1
He was affiliated with various colleges and universities until 1980. They include Wayne State University (1967-68), University of Louisville (1970-73), Fuller Graduate School of Psychology [part of the Fuller Theological Seminary] (1976-79), and the University of Nebraska (1979-80).
On his curriculum vitae, he describes himself as a “Researcher/Clinician.” According to the web site of the Nebraska Department of HHS Regulation and Licensure, his license as a Psychologist has been “inactive” since 1995.
He is chairman of the Family Research Institute, PO Box 62640, Colorado Springs, CO, 80962-2640. Telephone: (303) 681-3113. Fax: (303) 681-3427. E-mail: pdcameron@juno.com
APA letter to Paul Cameron 12/2/83
In the mid-1980s, the gay press labeled Paul Cameron “the most dangerous antigay voice in the United States today.”2,3,4 Here are some important facts about him.
* On December 2, 1983, the American Psychological Association sent Paul Cameron a letter informing him that he had been dropped from membership. Early in 1984, all members of the American Psychological Association received official written notice that “Paul Cameron (Nebraska) was dropped from membership for a violation of the Preamble to the Ethical Principles of Psychologists” by the APA Board of Directors.5 Cameron has posted an elaborate argument about his expulsion from APA on his website, claiming that he resigned from APA before he was dropped from membership. Like most organizations, however, APA does not allow a member to resign when they are being investigated. And even if Cameron’s claims were accepted as true, it would be remarkable that the largest professional organization of psychologists in the United States (and other professional associations, as noted below) went to such lengths to disassociate itself from one individual.
* At its membership meeting on October 19, 1984, the Nebraska Psychological Association adopted a resolution stating that it “formally disassociates itself from the representations and interpretations of scientific literature offered by Dr. Paul Cameron in his writings and public statements on sexuality.”6
* In 1985, the American Sociological Association (ASA) adopted a resolution which asserted that “Dr. Paul Cameron has consistently misinterpreted and misrepresented sociological research on sexuality, homosexuality, and lesbianism” and noted that “Dr. Paul Cameron has repeatedly campaigned for the abrogation of the civil rights of lesbians and gay men, substantiating his call on the basis of his distorted interpretation of this research.”7 The resolution formally charged an ASA committee with the task of “critically evaluating and publicly responding to the work of Dr. Paul Cameron.”
At its August, 1986 meeting, the ASA officially accepted the committee’s report and passed the following resolution:
The American Sociological Association officially and publicly states that Paul Cameron is not a sociologist, and condemns his consistent misrepresentation of sociological research. Information on this action and a copy of the report by the Committee on the Status of Homosexuals in Sociology, “The Paul Cameron Case,” is to be published in Footnotes, and be sent to the officers of all regional and state sociological associations and to the Canadian Sociological Association with a request that they alert their members to Cameron’s frequent lecture and media appearances.”8
* In August, 1996, the Canadian Psychological Association adopted the following policy statement:
The Canadian Psychological Association takes the position that Dr. Paul Cameron has consistently misinterpreted and misrepresented research on sexuality, homosexuality, and lesbianism and thus, it formally disassociates itself from the representation and interpretations of scientific literature in his writings and public statements on sexuality.
* Cameron’s credibility was also questioned outside of academia. In his written opinion in Baker v. Wade (1985), Judge Buchmeyer of the U.S. District Court of Dallas referred to “Cameron’s sworn statement that ‘homosexuals abuse children at a proportionately greater incident than do heterosexuals,’” and concluded that “Dr. Paul Cameron…has himself made misrepresentations to this Court” and that “There has been no fraud or misrepresentations except by Dr. Cameron” (p.536).9

6The full NPA resolution read as follows:
The science and profession of psychology in Nebraska as represented by the Nebraska Psychological Association, formally dissociates itself from the representations and interpretations of scientific literature offered by Dr. Paul Cameron in his writings and public statements on sexuality. Further, the Nebraska Psychological Association would like it known that Dr. Cameron is not a member of the Association. Dr. Cameron was recently dropped from membership in the American Psychological Association for a violation of the Preamble to the Ethical Principles of Psychologists.

7A copy of the full ASA resolution in Acrobat PDF format can be downloaded. It read as follows:
WHEREAS Dr. Paul Cameron, a psychologist, was dropped from membership in The American Psychological Association for violation of the Preamble to the Ethical Principles of Psychologists;
WHEREAS Dr. Paul Cameron has been presented in the media as a sociologist;
WHEREAS Dr. Paul Cameron has consistently misinterpreted and misrepresented sociological research on sexuality, homosexuality, and lesbianism;
WHEREAS Dr. Paul Cameron has repeatedly campaigned for the abrogation of the civil rights of lesbians and gay men, substantiating his call on the basis of his distorted interpretation of this research;
WHEREAS the American Sociological Association is on record as opposing oppressive actions against lesbians and gay men and affirming its commitment to their civil rights;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: THAT the Association reaffirms its opposition to efforts to undermine the civil rights of lesbians and gay men through the distortion of sociological concepts and the falsifying of sociological research; and
THAT the Association articulates this opposition by charging the Committee on the Status of Homosexuals in Sociology with the task of critically evaluating and publicly responding to the work of Dr. Paul Cameron.

9On page 536 of his opinion, Judge Buchmeyer noted the following examples of misrepresentations by Cameron to the Court:
“(i) his sworn statement that “homosexuals are approximately 43 times more apt to commit crimes than is the general population” is a total distortion of the Kinsey data upon which he relies – which, as is obvious to anyone who reads the report, concerns data from a non-representative sample of delinquent homosexuals (and Dr. Cameron compares this group to college and non-college heterosexuals);
(ii) his sworn statement that “homosexuals abuse children at a proportionately greater incident than do heterosexuals” is based upon the same distorted data – and, the Court notes, is directly contrary to other evidence presented at trial besides the testimony of Dr. Simon and Dr. Marmour. (553 F. Supp. 1121 at 1130 n.18.)”

Barb Anderson thinks hanging out with certified hate-groups is intelligent and cool for her. I’ll stick with the over 477,000 credible medical associations that say that homosexuality is a normal, natural expression of human sexuality in a minority of the population. They also agree that “ex-gay” quackery is nonsense and harmful.

Iowa Teen Beaten To Death By Anti-Gay Attackers
Jim Burroway
August 22nd, 2011
A nineteen-year-old youth died Sunday afternoon following an attack and severe beating early Friday morning. Marcellus Richard Andrews was officially pronounced dead after life support was removed at an Iowa City Hospital.
According to friends, it all began when Andrews was at a friend’s house late Thursday night:
She said the problems started at about 12:45 a.m. Friday when she and Tudia Simpson, her cousin, went for a walk down the street. Andrews opted to stay behind, waiting on the enclosed porch, she said.
The two women hadn’t made it as far as Adams Street a block away when they heard yelling back at the house. They ran back and found a truck stopped in the street, and the occupants were taunting Andrews, calling him “faggot” and “Mercedes,” a feminization of his first name, Simpson said.
The arguing and name calling continued, said Simpson, who admitted throwing the first punch, striking a girl.
“She kept saying it, and I hit her,” Simpson said.
At one point in the ensuing melee, Andrews fell to the ground. Simpson tried to help him up but another male kicked him in the face. She tried to help him back up again after the fight ended, but he wasn’t able to get up. Another girl called 911. When paramedics arrived, they found Andrews with severe head trauma and had him flown to Iowa City for treatment.
Police are investigating. No arrests have been made.
If having a “radical gay agenda” saves lives of our nations children, I think the nation should have a radical gay agenda.
Barb Anderson, Tony PerKKKins and Bob Vander Plaatz have blood on their hands. Swimming in it.

Jesus left us with one commandment – the Bible states it came directly from Jesus’ Father our Lord God, “Love one another as you would love yourself.”
Jesus also preached to the millions, “judge not least ye be judged”. Religious groups and so called social-moral groups are doing the exact opposite of what Jesus (who is God’s son) taught us while on this earth. Zealots are judgemental, racist, bigots who want to push their agenda onto everyone; that is NOT what God wants us to do.
God gave us free-will to make our own choices. Each individual will be judged by the choices they make in life. God did NOT give any one religious group the power to pass judgement that would supercede his judgement. If Jesus said, Judge not least ye be judged, ” I sure as all get out am NOT going to judge anyone based on their choices in life. IF you really read the Bible you KNOW that you are to accept people for who they are – all of God’s children.
This group appears to be another group of bullies that want their 15 minutes claim to fame.

This is soooooooo IGNORANT. We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal. Now what part of equal is this fear mongering of those who believe that if the lgbt community ask for a little bit if respect means that people are pushing for a homosexual agenda. It is an extreme fear based reaction to a group of people that are being on a repetaed basis bullied. Now if those responding actually have any kindness in their hardened homophobic hearts they would say you know what people no matter the race, creed or sexual orientation do have the right to dignity and respect. The truths are self evident that all men are created equal. Now we must act like it.

What is abusive about the petitioner’s is their notion that they are entitled to a world free of people they don’t like. The belief that they have is that their rights extend far beyond my nose into my bedroom, my employment and my education. They are the bullies the anti-bullying policies are intended to restrain.

USA Christian Taliban is alive and well .
When a drunks and bullies , cruelties and suicides are more accepted than loving children and adults who are different than you, how is it better to be here than under any other country with oppressive rule that turns a blind eye to freedoms and safety?
When gays were mostly all living the wild anti social single life these hypocrits said “look at the sinners, we want family values.” When gays said we want inclusions and family values the hypocrits said no, we want you excluded and judged by mortals and in harms way; Ostracized and bullied just like other religious fundamentalists around the world do.
