Bachmann’s clinic protested by dancing, glitter-throwing ‘barbarians’
Friday, August 26, 2011 at 12:31 pm
A flash mob at Bachmann & Associates, a Christian counseling clinic run by Michele Bachmann and her husband Marcus, protested the clinic’s acceptance of state and federal money Thursday and poked fun at allegations that the clinic performs therapy to “cure” homosexuality. The mob, dressed as barbarians — a nod to one of Marcus’ comments about LGBT people — danced a choreographed routine to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”
The barbarian outfits were in response to a radio interview Marcus Bachmann gave in 2010 that insinuated that LGBT people were “barbarians” who “need to be educated.” The dance troop also featured a fake Marcus Bachmann who was “baptized” in glitter during the stunt.
Here’s video of the protest:

WHAT? This must be the only business that gets government money! Is it because it’s Christian, or because it helps Gay people who Want the help? None of your business people. Oh I forgot, this is America where everythhing is our business.

Many thanks to all the dancers. Too fun! Pearls before swine notwithstanding.

Marylou: The reasosn they are protesting the government funding that this clinic accepts are Michele has been protesting about the government funding other clinics and the teaching of ANY religion is against the rules of separation of church and state. Hope LGBT protest at this “clinic” everyday until Bachmann quits being such a hypocrite and starts refusing federal funds or gets investigated for breaking the separation of government and religious ruling.

Bette: Read the Constitution. There are no “rules” regarding the “separation of church and state.” The words don’t even exist in the document. The First Ammendment does say, “Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.” I admit to not having all the facts about this particular case, but please don’t throw around the words “separation of church and state” blindly. The way I see it, the workers and clients at this clinic have every right to seek “cures” and the protesters have every right to disagree with them. But can we please do it with dignity and compassion for one another?

Marylou… on top of what Bette said.
Bachmann has come out against all medicare and has made tons of money on it, They are using a therapy that has been denounced by every single credited medical association. The medical professionals have all claimed that the “ex gay therapy” is actually dangerous.
They have pronounced that they do NOT use this therapy or preform any “ex gay therapy” at their clinic but have been debunked on that as well.
So Marylou perhaps your ok with people lying and performing dangerous destructive “therapy” on people, perhaps your ok with them taking from the government under the veil of a clinic when they are a christian organization, but all of that is illegal and unconstitutional, and un- American.
And they have been deemed part of a hate group on top of all of that. The Bachmanns that is. Now that is something you are ok with?

I hope this gets widely circulated, not only because it’s delightful, but also because more people need to know what the Bachmanns are really all about.

I wish Don Lemon–or a Don Lemon actor–could have been there.

I wish either Don Lemon or “Don Lemon” could have been there — after his ill-treatment by Marcus (not “Marcus”).

Is this what we are talking about here???
– - – - – protested the clinic’s acceptance of state and federal money – - – -
Does any one ever think (the key word here is THINK!) – “Let’s protest the state and federal governments that GIVE THEM THIS MONEY????
Flash mob??? sounds more like FLASH MORONS!

Fred – The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits interfering with the right to peaceably assemble . So just because they excercised their right to peacebly assemble with costumes and a dance you think they are morons? Isn’t that a bit un-American?

Because Marylou, it’s NOT SCIENCE and it doesn’t “help gay people who want help.” Over 477,000 credible medical and psychological associations disagree with this ideological quackery and acknowledge it’s potential to do harm.
“Ex-gay therapy” has as much to do with helping gay people as going in for brain surgery and ending up with your toenails clipped.
This is an attempt to prop up a FRAUD industry of voodoo head-shrinking. Gay folks don’t need therapy, they need the apartheid state under which they live and state-sanctioned ideological bigotry to end. VOTE NO!

who would i rather hang out with? a bunch of indoctrinating, extreme religious agenda filled, special interest group, donned a hate group, or a bunch of glittering barbarians?
Pass me some fur and and glitter!

Sandy, quoting the constitution is a start. Kudo’s. You did completely miss my point, however. The article said they were protesting the Bachman’s taking federal money. Nobody “takes” federal money – the government gives it away. That’s the problem that the “flash-morons” did nothing to address.
Oh, and since this is America, I am free to think that anyone is a moron. I tend to think of people as morons when they act self inflated and pretend they are making a difference. Let’s see glittery flash mobs at Bachman’s office and Frankin’s offices. That may actually make a difference.
…and after quoting the constitution you mentioned that I was un-American for what I thought?? Welcome to the thought-police. This freedom stuff is tricky, isn’t it? : )

@ Fred
The Government “gives” the money to these people, but they are the ones accepting, it TAKING it as well. The same people that protest the loudest about the government giving the money in the first place. On top of that they take the money under false pretense since they lie about the therapy they do there, and the therapy they do there is not credited by any credited medical association in the world. Therefore they are protesting on yet another basis the fact that they are taking the funds perhaps even illegally cause of that.
As for being the thought police, you mean like how the religious right tries to indoctrinate the country, through pushing its radical religious agenda on the public through law? For all religion is a thought, an opinion, a choice and a lifestyle.

No Marie, I was referring to someone saying that I sounded “un-American” because of my thought process. That’s what brought out my thought police comment…I get it…when all else fails – try to change the subject…right on!
Am I to assume that most people “here” don’t see the problem when government tries to be everything to everyone??
(civics 101: the government can only give out what it takes from someone else. You are setting yourselves up for the 51% majority taking everything from the poor suckers that happen to fall in the 49%. Please wake up.)
My point with ALL of this is that the government has NO BUSINESS doing any of it! (I don’t mean to shout, just caps for emphasis, really).

No business doing any of it.
so you think its OK? to offer up a therapy that is considered dangerous by all accredited medical associations? That there needs to be NO regulation at all?
Comment posted August 31, 2011 @ 6:05 pm
And if you think there must be no regulation then of course your for gay marriage then cause dictating a marriage is certainly not something to be dictated by the courts at all.
Comment posted August 31, 2011 @ 10:34 pm
NO NO No…
we are not talking about regulation – no one has said ANYTHING about regulation except you (the article didn’t either, as I recall).
Please focus here.
ITS ABOUT $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Your money.
We are talking about the government giving out MONEY that they took from you and me. You don’t want the Bachmanns getting this money. I agree!! I agree!!
You people don’t seem to understand how much a more libertarian government can do for you than TO YOU. (mostly by leaving you and me alone).
…So Marie…How much do YOU really WANT to be regulated? (remember if you choose a powerful government, you are agreeing that the “51%” can set your rules) In my lifetime I’ve seen that 51% change back and forth every 5 or 10 years.
I’m done.

A fight on economics is different horse all together, a true libertarian Government doesn’t work either.
I am the wrong person to argue that with anyways, i think we don’t give enough to the government. Neither do people of high wealth, power and smarts, like Warren Buffet.
