Bachmann would reinstate Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

On a conference call with supporters of Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom coalition on Tuesday evening, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said she would reinstate Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, while agreeing with a caller who said allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military would “destroy the armed forces.”

“I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ,” Bachmann said in her introductory remarks. “I gave my life to the Lord when I was 16 years of age. We are committed to the pro-life cause, we believe that life deserves protection from conception to natural death.”

Bachmann also talking about her work on the anti-gay marriage amendment that will be on the ballot in Minnesota in 2012.

“We also believe that God has a design for marriage between one man and one woman. I was the chief author of the marriage amendment in Minnesota and we persisted, and after seven years, in a very hostile liberal state, we finally passed that marriage amendment and it will be on the ballot and I believe it will pass in 2012.”

She said conservatives don’t win “pro-family victories’ unless they fight hard and have trust in the Lord: “It’s incredibly important that we trust him in what he can do because god is so big and so great and so powerful.”

Bachmann took questions from callers, including a man named Jack who said “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is going to destroy the armed forces” before his call was dropped.

“I think of all of the candidates that are running in this race, I have been very vocal about this,” Bachmann said. “I would reinstate the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy. It worked before and what it says is the issue of sexuality is one that doesn’t come up and people aren’t allowed to be open about it because the United States military is unique, its not a social experiment.”

She said repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is gong to hurt the military’s preparedness: “I take very seriously the job of Commander in Chief. I see that as my very first job and I would listen to the generals [on DADT].”

Bachman told the activists not to settle for a moderate candidate when choosing their candidate for 2012, and that she is the most socially conservative.

“I believe that this is a powerful election, and I firmly believe that this is the election of all elections and that’s why my message has been don’t settle,” she said. “Every four years the pro-life conservative Christians, we are told about this time time the race and just get patted on the head and told that we have got to elect the moderate in the race.”

Bachmann’s campaign has recently focused on the theme that conservatives don’t have to compromise on their ideal candidate.

“Don’t settle. Don’t settle for anyone less than a candidate that will stand up for our profile, pro-family, pro-marriage issues,” she told people on the call. “What makes me stand out is that I have stood up on every battle tat we care about and I have taken the heat and have shown in the heat of the battle I push on.”

She added, “I have a titanium spine. I will put my spine up against any man who is running in this race.”

Until folks like Bachmann who continue to call for their fellow Americans to be treated like second-class citizens also call for those second-class citizens to have a significantly lower tax rate (I shouldn’t have to pay the same price for fewer rights and privileges) I’m no longer intersted in what they have to say.

This is disgraceful.

I don’t think anyone is listening to Bachmann any longer….she’s been consistently pulling in less than 2% in the polls.

Big Hair Bad Makeup Bachmann is no better than Westboro Baptist, she’s just less profane about her bigotry.

When her children enlist maybe there will be an epiphany like the one Rep. Kriesel had after his Iraq tragedy.

Yes Ms Bachmann start screaming this opinion from the rooftops. Make sure you’re on every major network station screaming the same opinion. While you’re at it make sure all your fellow Republicans/Teabaggers are screaming the same message to the nation. Make sure there isn’t a single American who is not clear on your views.

And then watch yourself and the Republican/Teabagger party sink to nothing more than a footnote in history. Please, please, please Ms Bachmann – do this – do this for the children.

Who cares what lies Bachmann tells in the name of Christanity? Her supporters do!

BAchmann is now caught on tape agreeing with a supporter that President Obama shoud be impeached. For what?? What laws did he break? For repealing DADT?? For passing HCR? Hardly offenses that are impeachable.

Ms. Bachmann-When I think of the pain I endured for much of my life I have little sympathy for the orgy of bigotry and ignorance that converge in your putative brain. Yes, you are for freedom for all who think and believe the way you do. The wonderful thing about America is that we eventually get it right. Thus, your homophobic tirade only helps us see you for what you are;a person devoid of empathy or dignity. Enjoy your outbursts. In fact, tape them. That way there will be one person listening to your putric venom.

Titanium spine my …..! Just last night she “ran” away from a peaceful few dozen Grinnell College students, and completely changed her plans at a pumpkin farm appearance in Iowa. http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.com/2011/10/04/college-students-change-michele-bachmanns-plans-for-event-in-grinnell/

Well,Michelle, there are a helluva lot of us who are not believers in your Lord Jesus Christ and resent the fact that you and your republican friends want to cram him down our throats. I don’t really care if you believe in Herman Fink…..just keep him away from the US Constitution!!!!!

Bachmann’s campaign is disappearing so fast that soon nothing of it will be left except a bad smell. Who cares what this airhead plans to do in her imaginary world when imaginary people elect her president? This delusional twit and her gay husband both need to have their heads examined by competent mental health professionals. The voters in her district need to send her packing and elect a normal person. Bachmann is not news unless you consider a non-stop freak show to be news.

It’s to late to reinstate it. The repeal has already gone into effect and soldiers have come out, reinstating it would force all of them to be discharged. I don’t think the military would be very happy with having to go through the process of un-training all it’s personnel.

Besides the President can’t reinstate it, only Congress can do that.

Does Bradley Dean run Michele or does Michele run Bradley? Gates was a process dedicated genius in repealing DADT. It would be almost impossible to reinstate.

Why does Michele Bachmann have your vote, Mary?

It is because she has been a compassionate champion of the Poor, the Homeless, the Jobless, those without Health Care Insurance, those who can’t afford college, those who find it hard to take care of their children in the 6th CD???

Michele Bachmann is on tape and on record for saying at the Living Word Church of Mac Hammond’s that she “is a Fool For Christ.” Yet her behavior in Congress, her avoidance of the 6th CD in general has been anything short of Christ-like behavior. Michele Bachmann has USED her position as a member of Congress to further her own political ambitions.

The constituents of 6th CD be damned, for she can’t be bothered to show up for work and do the job she was elected to do to represent ALL the people be they Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, rich, poor, etc.!

I want Bachmann to win the GOP spot, so that it is her vs Obama and make this the most one sided presidential race ever. Obama would wipe the floor with her.

Poor Michelle, she was born with a bigot’s mind-set. She hates anyone who isn’t HER or does not agree with her religious beliefs.
This United States of America is a SECULAR COUNTRY, not a Christian nation. Ours is supposed to be run by secular leaders, not born-again bigots.
Michelle said that she would overturn DADT because of the negative impact it would have on our military when the truth is that our military, for the most part, could care less. The statements that Bachmann have made are IDENTICAL to President Truman’s decision to integrate our military. One soldier said that if a man saves his life, he wouldn’t care if the guy who saved him was white, black, gay or straight.
She wants to outlaw gay marriage because SHE thinks that it is sinful. That’s touch, ma’am, this country is not run by the bible, it is run by LAWS. Laws that human beings make up. I am not a Christian, would never be one. That is the great thing about living in this country, we have the freedom to practice whatever religion or NO religion we want. Her cramming her religion down my throat instantly turned me off. Actually, she lost me when she got up in Congress a few years back and wanted to have a McCarthy-like investigation to find out how many Congress critters were Socialists.
The term socialist has somehow or another become confused with communism. She is the polar opposite of Senator Bernie Sanders who has great ideas. Bachmann has never produced a single idea that was not wrapped in her belief in her faith in Jesus. Get real, lady, then quit your run for president; you have already lost.
