Lagging in polls, Bachmann focuses campaign on abortion

Rep. Michele Bachmann, who hasn’t cast a vote in Congress since August, found time to file the “Heartbeat Informed Consent Act,” which would require women undergoing an abortion to listen to the fetus’ heartbeat on a monitor.
Though the bill has little chance of getting past the U.S. Senate or Pres. Barack Obama, it is part of Bachmann’s new campaign tactic of appealing to social conservatives to shore up a floundering campaign.
“A pregnant woman who enters an abortion clinic is faced with a decision that will forever change two lives,” Bachmann said of the bill in a statement. “That’s why she must have the very best information with which to make that decision. The ‘Heartbeat Informed Consent Act,’ that I introduced today, would require that abortion providers make the unborn child’s heartbeat visible through ultrasound, describe the cardiac activity, and make the baby’s heartbeat audible, if the child is old enough for it to be detectable.”
Bachmann also recently said she would push for a constitutional amendment banning abortion if she was elected president.
At the same time, her campaign released an online video where she laid out her credentials in opposing abortion and rights for same-sex couples.
Bachmann has been touring Iowa this week, pushing a strong anti-abortion message.
On Wednesday, she hit two stops to talk about the issue. In Des Moines, she told anti-abortion activists, “Don’t settle for a candidate that does not stand up for the sanctity of life.”
And a visit to speak with members of the Family Leader, a group that opposes abortion and rights for same-sex couples, was cut short when students from Grinnell College showed up to protest carrying signs that read “My body, my choice” and “Have my gaybee.”

This is the sign that Michele knows her presidential campaign is over. Taking a stand against abortion isn’t going to distinguish herself from the rest of the candidates (well, maybe Romney), but it is fodder for her re-election to the 6th.

Michele Bachmann and her husband are both very far out. Not good for the U.S. She is running on her own “gay agenda” platform. We are closing schools, laying people off. Families are being foreclosed on and being put out in the streets. And all this Republican running for President and her husband can do is talk about is “praying away the gay”. It is a good money maker for her, but we have bigger things to do, and I am hopping God has too. If you or your church has the gay agenda on your mind, all the time you may need to set down and talk with someone. We need to start looking at what is best for the country. Not our own religion’s views, that blow in the wind.

Bachmann is desperate now that she has tanked in the polls, and as a result, more dangerous. Fair-minded and decent folks need to get involved and make sure we don’t settle and allow this grifter into the White House.

She could probably get more nationwide support if she tried to pass a bill making peanut butter an official “American Food”. Michele we need a peanut butter bill. Please save us all and sponsor a peanut butter bill.

What did Michele Bachmann do, TWEET the Bill to the House? She could not have done it in person.

[...] A new WMUR Granite State poll found that only 2 percent of registered voters in New Hampshire would vote for Bachmann. Rep. Bachmann has chosen to focus on social issues in an effort to boost her popularity. She recently introduced the “Heartbeat Informed Consent Act” in the House of Representatives that would require women having an abortion to listen to the fetus’ heartbeat, according to the Minnesota Independent.
