The man who managed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s successful 2008 Iowa Caucuses campaign has signed on to manage Minnesota U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann‘s efforts in Iowa.

Eric Woolson has previously worked for the campaigns of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty; former Iowa gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats; and U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-New Hartford).

“We have a strong, experienced organization in place that is equipped to build upon Michele Bachmann’s historic victory in the Republican Party of Iowa Straw Poll this summer,” said national campaign manager Keith Nahigian. “Eric is the perfect person to lead our team to victory on caucus day.”

Other top members of Bachmann’s Iowa operation include Wes Enos, the deputy state campaign manager; State Sen. Kent Sorenson (R-Indianola), the state chairman; and State Sen. Brad Zaun (R-Urbandale), the state state co-chairman.

Tea Party group American Majority offered a directive to the movement’s cheerleader-in-chief: Quit the presidential race. Now. “It’s time for Michele Bachmann to go,” said the group’s president, Ned Ryun, noting that she “has ridden her tea party credentials from obscurity to a national platform like no other.” The group has grown incensed with Bachmann because, as Executive Director Matt Robbins said, “I think it’s pretty obvious that Michele Bachmann is about Michele Bachmann.” “Let’s face it: she’s a back-bencher and has been a back bencher congressperson for years,” he added. “This is not a serious presidential campaign.” Team Bachmann responded by saying that “no single leader speaks” for the Tea Party movement and that “Mr. Ryun, who supports Texas Gov. Rick Perry, is entitled to his own opinion.” But Ryun says he has not “endorsed anybody.” Apparently, the group just can’t get behind Bachmann. –Think Progress
