Ventura thinking about presidential bid

Following dismissal of his lawsuit against the Transportation Security Administration for security measures like mandatory pat-downs, former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura told reporters Friday that he hasn’t ruled out a run for higher office.

MPR reports that the current host of Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura said he plans to refer to the United States as the “Fascist States of America.”

“The only way that I could change it I guess would be to run for president and win it,” Ventura said. “Is that what it will take?” When asked if he’s running for the White House, Ventura said “I’m thinking about it. That’s all though.”

Ventura has suggested before that he might have an interest in again running for higher office. In April, Ventura told Good Morning America that he’d consider running as Rep. Ron Paul’s vice president if he ran for an independent party.

Ventura also said that he and his wife plan to pursue their Mexican citizenship, according to Politics in Minnesota.

Ventura has dabbled in the 9/11 truther movement and other conspiracy theories, partly for his television show, since leaving office. The camera crew was present at today’s press conference, according to media reports.

He wasn’t perfect as governor of MN, but I liked him better than Pawlenty. I think he’s a better choice for President than anyone the GOP has currently in the running and if he did run, I’d vote for him.

Jesse is a joke – I voted for him as governor and as governor he had a choice: he could make real changes or go for the money.

He went for the money and sold us out leaving people like Pawlenty and Emmer and the other conservative creeps an opportunity that they grabbed and we are still paying for.

Jesse is all about self-promotion and the money.

He had a chance to make a real difference and he blew it.

Q: What is the difference between Jesse Ventura and Sarah Palin?

A: One is the washed-up media-hound former Governor who has earned an extravagant reputation for making loud, but ultimately meaningless, comments to the media. The other one is from Alaska.
