The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza has released his latest rankings of which U.S. Senate seats are most likely to flip parties in November. Continuing to occupy a prime spot on the list is the post held by Norm Coleman. The Minnesota seat clocks in at seventh, unchanged from the previous ranking. Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley, currently polling in double digits, doesn’t merit a mention. Here’s Cillizza’s take on the race:
7. Minnesota (R): As predicted, the battle between Sen. Norm Coleman (R) and comedian Al Franken (D) grows more contentious by the day with the candidates trading televised body blows. Franken appears to have weathered a disastrous summer and is within striking distance of the incumbent. The problem for Democrats? In a year when the smart strategy is to make the race a referendum on Coleman and President Bush, Franken’s controversial persona has allowed Republicans to flip that script. This race is going to be close but Coleman has the edge today. (Previous ranking: 7)

Some people just don’t understand that a change is required to make a change, not jost going back to what we got sick of in the past.
