Car wars: McCains have 13, Obamas have 1

Newsweek reported Saturday that Sen. John McCain and his wife have 13 cars to fill the garage space at their seven residences, a fact that sheds light on his man-of-the-people shtick and compromises the campaign’s attempt to paint Obama as an “elite” or out-of-touch candidate.

In addition, the fact that some are not American-made has some auto-workers crying foul.

Among McCain’s many rides is his daughter Meghan’s Toyota Prius, a 2005 Volkswagen convertible, a 2001 Honda sedan, a 2004 Cadillac CTS, a 2007 Ford pickup truck, a 1960 Willys Jeep, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler, a 2000 Lincoln, a 2001 GMC SUV and three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles. Cindy McCain drives a Lexus registered to her beer business.

The Obama family has a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid.

Which is more extravagant, McCain’s thirteen cars or Obama’s jet?
