Bachmann to join Pawlenty at CPAC

Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) organizers announced on Twitter Thursday afternoon that Rep. Michele Bachmann will be speaking at its annual conference in late February and will be introduced by Minnesota blogger Ed Morrissey. Bachmann joins Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who will also be speaking at the conference.

Palin, not Pawlenty, snubs CPAC over Birch ties

Sarah Palin will not attend the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) next month – in part, according to The Fix, because the John Birch Society is a co-sponsor. That isn’t stopping Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who is set to speak at CPAC.

Pawlenty to speak at 2010 CPAC

Gov. Tim Pawlenty is listed as a confirmed speaker for the 2010 Conservative Action Political Conference (CPAC) on Feb. 18-20 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. Pawlenty spoke at last year’s CPAC, where he came in second to last in the presidential straw poll.

AM.MN: Norm Coleman clarifies a couple things

“There’s nothing to” the Politico report that Norm Coleman would decide by the end of the year about running for governor. That decision is “down the road,” he says … as in “he plans to ’step back and look at the political horizon’ around the end of the year.” Coleman is focused on his new think tank [...]

AM.MN: Pawlenty does California, Bachmann does Connecticut

With shipments heading to both coasts, it was a good weekend for Minnesota’s leading export: rightwing political rhetoric. In California, a conservative group took delivery of a 36-minute speech from Gov. Tim Pawlenty. (Note to Customer Service: T-Paw’s speech was “too long” but those who heard him said they “still didn’t know a lot about [...]

Pawlenty trails GOP rivals in Rasmussen poll

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee was the top choice of 29 percent of Republican voters to be the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, according to a new national survey by Rasmussen Reports. Finishing a close second, with support from 24 percent of those polled, was former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. Also drawing considerable support were former [...]

Pawlenty named GOP “star” like Jindal … and possible john like Spitzer

If Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s office still uses those “While You Were Out” notes, his Monday-morning stack would make interesting reading. During his weekend trip to Iraq, Pawlenty was called a GOP “star” like Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and his name came up in speculation about which unnamed governor was reportedly also serviced by one of former [...]

Poll: Straight-arrow Pawlenty still flying under 2012 radar among GOP voters

Tim Pawlenty travels the country, speaking to whoever will invite him about the GOP’s future and other topics. He’s refrained from announcing any extramarital affairs or his impending resignation. But the Minnesota governor’s support as a 2012 presidential prospect among Republicans nationally remains low, according to a new Gallup Poll.

Sanford’s downfall may boost Pawlenty’s post-retirement political future

The stunning downfall of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford — and earlier, another Republican pol, Sen. John Ensign, who also fessed up to marital infidelity — “creates more oxygen” (in one wag’s words) for a 2012 presidential run by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who rarely fails to mention how “hot” his wife is.

Klobuchar, Minnesota’s solo senator, stays busy and popular

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar gets more plaudits in today’s New York Times for soldiering on as Minnesota’s sole senator. And she’s staying popular as she stays busy — though that isn’t quite good enough for one University of Minnesota political-science blog.
